In my opinion the Pitlock Rear Wheel Protection for Rohloff Hubs is not fit for use. The M10 Nord Lock Washers (levelled washers) supplied with the system are to small and will damage the frame when torqued to 35Nm as per Rohloff specification. Your views are appreciated.

Are you trying this in a >2016.5 Ogre frame with 145mm OLD Gnot Boost dropouts? If so, the horizontal dropout slot is wider (12mm) than the 10mm gap for which the Pitlock is designed. You may need an axle adapter and Surly Tugg or Monkey nuts to fit the Rohloff with the included acorn nut - the Pitlock may not work at all.

Thanks Seeker. This is a Ogre Frame. The levelled washer is too small but even if the gap was smaller the amount of material the washer would have to sit on would be very small. I don't really want to complicate things with a surly tugnut, what do you think about removing the washer completely?

I think you'll need T or M nuts to keep the R hub in place under pedaling and braking loads, and once you've added the T/N nuts then the Pitlock might actually work, if it'll actually fit over the T/M nut. If not, then the washer/acorn nut provided with the R TS hub should suffice - although a larger diameter washer to bridge the 12mm gap might work better.

I do not know if Surly's current T/N nuts are fully compatible with the newish Gnot Boost dropouts, or if they have optional sizes/parts. You should pose your questions to Surly for a more definitive answer - they always answer my queries in just a few hours---> derby@surlybikes.com

Yep, the tuggnuts fit.

I reckon you could ditch the extra washers, the shield thingies would spread the load like a Tuggnut anyway, assuming the base is reasonably thick.

For those who are interested you need a Tandem Skewer to use a standard 135mm QR axle with the Gnot Boost system and Tuggnuts. The frame comes with axle spacers that take up extra length on the skewer.

Just looking at it, I wouldn't be trying to run a Rohloff/SS 135mm QR without T/Ns, even your average QR ends aren't gonna be biting into a lot of metal on the drop outs.

Problem solved:

Pinhead M10 Wheel Locks torqued to 35Nm as per Rohloff Spec.

They fit nicely over the original Rohloff washer and are plenty thick enough to cover the thread of the spindle.

The Nuts are a cast metal of what composition I am not sure.

I greased the threads before screwing the nuts onto the spindle.
