Laugh if you want to! (Glowbike)
.... but things that glow in the dark give me a lot of joy. So, then, this happened.

I prefer my bikes and my clothing in dark stealthy colours, anything that glows is not my style.

Well, might be a slight misnomer to say it "glows" as it doesn't glow on it's own. (Although I would be way into that.) This is reflective tape, DOT. So it glows when there's light pointed at it.
EDIT: Actually, I have though it would be fantastic to somehow attach a battery (?) powered blacklight to a bicycle and paint it over with actual glow paint, or cover it with reactive fluorescent tape of some kind. That's a project for some other time in my life, though.
I didn't think to take a daylight picture, as I just finished it last night. Will post one this evening.

Add some Continental City Ride tires with the reflective strip on there and you are set. The whole thing isn't for me, as I won't put stickers or tape on any of my bikes, but if it works for you, go for it. At least drivers can't say that they didn't see you.

Check this out in low light with a flash:
The Kona on the right has Marathon Supremes with a "normal" reflective strip. The Kona in the center has LIT 360s. The things are like white walls for your bike, except that they reflect.
Nice job with the reflective tape, BTW. Echoes of K'Tesh.

Very cool! I have seen "glow" bikes in commercials...
Sure it makes it safer for city/night riding.

Very cleanly done, it looks great! Would love to see a daylight/no-flash pic too

Cool! How about adding some https://lightweights.com/?
Your spokes could have reflective bits too then.

I like it better in "glow mode" but you can't argue with the functional benefits.

Carrying the reflective bit on the sidewalls a bit more towards the tread like the lit360's seems a good idea for U.S. roads where it's important to be seen better from behind. Any idea how these tires hold up compared to Schwalbe Marathons?

Looking closer at the daylight pics, I like the detail that you made a segment of the rim white vs red, I bet when you're rolling that really grabs attention.

Thanks! The rims were definitely the most time-consuming part. I once heard someone on this forum call that different colored segment a "blink".

No, what he needs are LIT 360's. They can actually cast a sliver of reflection directly behind the tire.
Check this out in low light with a flash:
The Kona on the right has Marathon Supremes with a "normal" reflective strip. The Kona in the center has LIT 360s. The things are like white walls for your bike, except that they reflect.

I put the lightweights on in alternating pairs when I put them on the last wheel I bought to make a pulsing effect. Who knows if it will work or not, but the idea is cool.
