Schoooool's back.

Today was the first time I actually beat 90% of the cars on my way to work. Schooool's back. So many cars on the streets...

Sure is. I like it though, because I get friendly waves fgrom the kiddies at the various bus stops along the way. Not to mention smiles from some of the hot mommies, too :)

Down side is more teenagers driving for the first time in large vehicles. And I have to ride past a high school :(

gotta luv riding by them 4 Wheelers...

Last night I was killing time before I had to be at a appointment... these two boys got on the street behind me, on their bikes, I hear one say "are you ready?"... I was wonderin WTF? They start to blow past me as fast as they could, well that lasted about 5 seconds... I was full of vim and vigor!!! hee hee... they were shocked as this 47 year old blew them away... dayum kids anyways!

Yeah, now it looks like one day a week I will have to DRIVE my older kid five miles to high school so she can IMPROVE HER PHYSICAL CONDITION by JOGGING with the cross-country team. I tried to point out the logic in that, but was met with scorn. Somewhere I have failed.

Slovid,
did you notice all of the extra bikers on the streets though too? practically a line of us coming down CPW and then the same on 5th ave. i'm used to seeing bike messenger/delivery guy types, but this past week i've noticed a lot more 'white collar' type guys. Even saw a guy yesterday on a balloon tire beach cruiser in a full suit.

for the record i mean 'guy' in a gender neutral kind of way, many female cyclists on the streets too.

Nah I actually commute up from brooklyn into queens.

My girlfriend's sister actually used to drive to the gym which was about 3 miles away, then get on the treadmill and jog...

For me it means an explosion in the number of people who decide they'll just cross anywhere and anytime they please, no matter if that blocks someone's right of way.

I've had to yell at people a lot more in the last week.

I suppose it doesn't help that a large part of my commute takes me past the our nation's most populous private university.

When I used to commute, the traffic was worse as mothers and teenagers would increase the jams by driving everywhere. The bus situation was worse as those lumbering giants would now stop at every traffic light thus forcing you to play leap frog.

What I do miss is seeing all those people waiting at bus stops. I would just give them a look of pity and motor on. I guess bus riders have a complex because the minute I would stare back, most would look away.
