Anyone have DFW Reginal Veloweb info?
I've come across some info for a DFW regional Veloweb map as part of a "Mobility 2025" plan, but I could not find any concrete info on it or parts of it.
Basically, it's a plan of about 350 miles of non-motorized high speed trails across the entire DFW area. If anyone knows about this and has any dates, especially in the Richardson/Plano/Allen area, I'd appreciate it.

The Veloweb is more talk than substance. With the exception of a few multiuse paths here and there, cycling around the DFW area requires you to get out on the street with the other traffic.
I doubt there are any firm comitments to implement much of the plan at this point. However, for Dallas, there is a network of bike routes (not separate from other traffic) that is established. You can get a good quality set of maps at REI stores and perhaps other LBSs in the area. You may also be able to see the routes at dfwmaps.com but the interface is cumbersome.

The problem with the DFW plan is they don't have the funding for it, so it's really just a plan which may never materialize, but at least they have a plan.
With gas prices going the way they are, perhaps the plan will get more funding. If they were to complete the entire plan, I could ride all the way to the airport via bike trails, but at significantly longer distances. Even if they complete it, I'll probably still use the same route I use now.

According to the Veloweb map, there are a few paths that I might be able to use on my commute from far NE Dallas to Allen, if they are ever completed. However, it just doesn't get any more direct than my straight shot up Jupiter so I don't think I would use the planned trails on any kind of regular basis.
