Ortlieb panniers $49.95!!!

Joe, I know this should go in Hot Deals, but my commuter buds may not check there soon enough to catch this.

OK, boys and girls, if you have been thinking about getting a pair of panniers for commuting, NOW is the time. Sierratradingpost.com has Ortlieb Mini-Biker panniers on clearance for $49.95. They are 1998 model, but I see no difference between them and the current model. Ortlieb are waterproof and considered among the best panniers available. I bought a pair about 3 mo. ago when sierratradingpost.com had them for $59.95 and considered myself extremely lucky. Retail is $120. These are pretty much a perfect size for commuting. One is plenty for most days. You snooze, you lose! Here is the link.

You can get more detail at Ortlieb USA's site here:

The one's STP is selling look like the Light rather than the less expensive classic.

Not only are these panniers a great size for commuting, they have enough room to haul 8 ears of sweet corn (in the husks) in each one. This has been my special treat to Dan this summer, since the corn comes from the farm stand next to the clinic.

Fresh corn, ah yes. Crisp and kissed by the sun. I can smell it hot on a plate with melted butter or plain.

Was this about panniers???
