What the heck is going on? I got home from work today and heard a wizzing sound coming from my rear tire. For the life of me I couldn't find where any air was leaking from. Then I leaned over the wheel and put some weight on the rack, all of a sudden H20 started pouring out of the valve, at least 2 tablespoons before it stopped. What's up with that? I rode in some lousy weather this weekend and I don't shy away from commuting in wet weather but I've never seen this before. I can't wait to see if I have a flat in the morning!
Well, before this thread is through, you are going to hear a lot of scientific theories about how the decompression of the air rushing from the tire reduced temperature and cause condensation or that you pumped up your tire in humid air and the pressure inside the tire cause the water to fall out of suspension and condense inside the tube. Blah, blah, blah.
Two tablespoons is a lot of water to come squirting out of your valve.
You didn't happen to have re-sealing tubes did you? If you did, that goo could have come leaking out of your valve - no question about that.
To conclude this thread, I don't know where that water came from but the tire was indeed flat. Maybe the water was an April Folls joke from someone, you know how people will put lead shot in someones tire or fork? Who knows??
Mike, I dont really know the scientifics to it. I just happens every once in a while to me. I love riding when it is really muddy out so it could water from that in there some how but I really think it is just condensation. As long as the entire tube isnt full of water, why worry?
Tell Hunter that I think these phenominon have a mysterious correllation with Ted Nugent concerts being within a 30 mile range.
Well, there you have it. Water coming from bicycle innertubes, raining frogs, George Bush's son becomes president; it's a myseterious world out there my friends. As bicyclists, we are there to experience it front and center.
Hey, Joe, do you think you should start a new category, like, "No Holes Barred and Way Off Topic," or, "Mike's digressions?"
Really, Mike. The guy is trying to find out why this stuff's coming out of his tube. O.K.? By the way, neat website!
Yeoh, I was going to agree with the condensation thing. I'll bet there is even a website, if Mike will just focus his talent a bit...I must say, however, I have nothing concrete to offer on the subject (at least I can admit that).
"Oh, my gosh! Frogs, BIG FROGS, landing on my face!"
