WARNING!! MV Tacker is Back
All DC Riders, the Mount Vernon Trail has been tacked again. I got to the other side of the wooden bridge today and found 3 tacks in my front tire. I backtracked my route and found 10-15 tacks where the trail forks before the bridge. Might be time for me to go get some tire liners.......... Keep a sharp eye out

This is one of those occasions where multiple reports to the police of what amounts to criminal damage is in order. I would urge everyone who has had a puncture on this trail to enter a report as it is more likely to make them do something.

What is the possibility of doing a stakeout with night-vision video cameras? I suppose not likely, assuming everybody has jobs.

Get the DC pirates on the case ... they seem to be a large number of cyclists with a variety of schedules that might fit in order to get that guy.

It's not just that... those tacks can be dropped by anyone at any tme of the day in a discrete manner. I think the problem here is the unwillingness of the National Park Service to do regular, routine sweeps and maintenance of the trail. Which totally bites. You could ride that path all night long and not know if someone's walking along dropping tacks out of their back pocket.
I'm thinking of contacting WABA and see if we could organize a reward. If people wanted to donate, then they could just add money to the pot. Maybe if we can get it up to a thousand dollars or so, we'd get tons of eyes out there watching.
In the meantime, I'm getting Armadillo tires for both my wheels. I can't be bothered with this crap every freakin' day.

I put thick tire liners inside my tires today, so we will see how they work out..... pain in the neck to keep in place while you try to get the tube into the tire

I actually tried to contact the National Park Service. They only have that contact page for the email, and when I tried to fill it out, I keep getting an error message when I send. Is there another email I can send it to?
