My gf got me a chrome metropolis bag for a belated christmas gift!
This thing is sweet. Tons of pockets and it's pretty much twice the size of my old timbuk2 medium sized bag.
There's my old bag with a day's worth of clothes and a box of cheez-it's. It's pretty much stuffed to the gills. The new one feels like a canyon even with the standard load in it. There's a lot of room left over so in addition to my usual clothes, I stuffed it with 2 of my light & motion boxes (same size as a VCR), a large CD binder, the cheez-it's, and 3 bottles, there's room left over for a jacket if I stuff it at the top.
The only thing is that the vinyl is kinda slippery when it's not that full.

I have a Chrome Metropolis too. Great bag. I thought it was big, but I have to be real careful when I go grocery shopping to not exceed its capacity. I put it in the cart and throw stuff in it as I buy... that way I know I will be able to get the stuff home.

I've been eyeing the Kremlin... (Chrome is about 1 block from where I live). The Kremlin is HUGE, but the extra size could come in handy sometimes.

BTW, guard the buckle when you're around "friends"... once they know how it works they delight in pushing the red button.

It seems to be quite weatherproof too. I used it the other day in the hardest rain I have ever ridden in and the contents stayed dry.

One advantage of this is that the bag is all liner. The inside and outside layers are both the white liner, so it doesn't absorb water and stays dry.
One disadvantage is that its all liner. So I'm not sure whats going to happen once it wears, it might just hold onto more water than it lets go, plus its SLICK on my back..

In addition to all the pockets don't overlook that you can pull the velocroed liner off the front and stuff all kinds of stuff down there. I keep all my maps and bus schedules down there.

Oh... I thought you were saying you got a new gf. So your bag got you a bag?

Looks like good stuff, man. I need someone to get me a bag (the kind you wear, of course ) too!

That's weird. Mine is a canvas type material on the outside with a strip of vinyl on the base of the flap and has the vinyl liner on the inside.
Like in this pic from their website....

Mine is the citizen which is large enough for me, but other than size and no stash pocket it's the same bag. Even being the canvas on the outside, the inside stays dry even in the heaviest of downpours. I love that bag.

I can't figure it out either. It's like an alien bag or something. Initially I wanted a bright orange bag for visibility but then I saw this one. There's no canvas anywhere. It's all liner..

This is true. I once pushed a friend's buckle and the bag flew off. I almost bought a powerbook.

Actually, your hag would get another bag... and you'd have hag on bag action. Or bag on hag action, depending on how the night goes.

Mine is dark brown Cordura with the black vinyl stuff along the bottom of the flap and inside.

You *have* found the stash pocket, haven't you?

Yeah, Yours is weird. It must be hard with all the vinyl. I've had mine for a few months and it has been spectacular! I still am trying to figure out how to adjust it just right, it seems to depend on the load and I find myself having to retighten it several times.

Between birthdays, christmas, and anniversarys, we get each other a lot of crap. I found the stash pocket and after I pryed open the velcro, I found a bag of oregano in there... what am I supposed to do with that?

Mine is the bright orange, but i also added some sticky reflectors to the vinyl part.
You could probably make pretty pictures or spell stuff out on your flap since it's all vinyl!

Go to your local police department and ask them if they have a bong they could spare.

Somehow I think the advice I will render is pretty appropriate: smoke it.

So what exactly is the stash pocket for, seeing as how it's not waterproof and likely to retain a lot of grit and junk..

In some fonts that exclamation mark looks like a lower case "L". I spent a half hour searching the Park Tool site trying to figure out what a bag tool is.

Edit: Maybe I was searching the wrong site.

Yes.. it's a bag tool to help make the most use of that tiny space they called a stash pocket.

I thought the stash pocket would've been inside the shoulder padding or something.
