Ok the wind sucks

In trying to prove to my wife that it was a good thing to buy this new bike and I want to use it I have started to ride it to work.(just for those who don't know yet it is about 13 miles)
yesterday the ride home sucked.the wind blew all afternoon.about 20mph or so.comming home I had to buck it.yuk.
I made it in a decent amount of time but I was just wiped when I got home.(still beat how long it would take me on my mountain bike)I am stiff this morning and I get to do it all again.the wind is not blowing right now but I am afraid it will start soon.I don't know if I got it in me to do this again.
I didn't realize how crappy my mtn bike was for riding back and forth untill yesterday.what a difference in riding.I know that I would have had to throw in the towel and call to have her come get me.

Yup, I can take about any weather, but the wind really sucks it out of you. I had 20 MPH headwinds one day last week, and it really slowed me down.
Last year I'd get really discouraged, but this year I decided to look at it as an additional challenge. It's only on the days with headwind that I get a real burn in my legs.

It always seems to be working agaist me. In the morning it is usually only light winds in my face, but everyday coming home it always turns around and it becomes about a 20-25 knot head wind. Pain in the butt alright.

I have discovered the secret of riding in headwinds for myself.

1. Don't fight the wind. You'll just get tired.

2. Gear down and ride slower with the same effort level as with no wind. Look at it as just riding a bigger distance - that is what it boils down to.

- Of course this only works if the wind is not too fierce.

It takes a bit of getting used to... First couple of weeks at my new job which required a 5 mile bike commute, i thought i was going to have a heart attack! Stick with it...

hehehe atbman.that was good.got a real kick out of that..
today was better.not much wind but it was raining.no biggie.I just trucked on.did set a new personel best time.I love it.
For those of you who are riding wallyworld bikes.stop spending your money on bikes there.get a good bike.Ride what you got till you can afford a better bike.but do it.you won't regret it.
I know I don't.

Lately always seems to be windy when I commute home. You will get used to it like I have. I fly on non windy days or ones with a tailwind. Think of it as a form of training. For what...I have no clue.
