How long is your commute?

Just curious.. How long is your round trip commute? I've seen everything on these boards from around the corner to the absolutely awe inspiring.

For this poll, lets keep it to your usual commute, home to work and back. Not the "well I was chasing down this <person> senior citizen on a <type of transportation> rascal into a headwind... and you shoulda seen the <noun> cars i was passing... and I ended up in <name of adjoining state here> New York before i even realized..." stuff.

d'oh!

missed the fact that it's round trip.

Normally, round trip, it's about 9.5 miles. With jury duty right now changing my commute up, I'm in the 20.5 range.

I'm wondering how I'll feel about my far shorter commute after jury duty is over (in another week and a half... ugh...). I kind of like the longer commute, I'm going to have to add a few more miles onto my regular commute to feel like I'm doing something...

About 16 miles RT for me. Luckily it's a pretty nice grind on the way up and (mostly) downhill on the way down. Albuquerque's great for rides like that.

My is a measly 6 miles, round trip (so do I pick the first or the second? ) But, it is rocky roads - I think there is about 100 yards of pavement in the whole thing.

About 13 miles. About two thirds is a bike path, which makes it easier. But the rider can sometimes be stupid (having crashed last week thru no fault of anyone's but my own), which makes it harder.

Two longish uphills in the morning, and I fly home with the exception of one short, steep incline.

Mine is 40 miles... BUT I have to admit I have only been able to do one way/day for all of last summer. This is quite a timely thread though, as TODAY is my first round trip by bike. I'm ahead of schedule!! I'm excited and find riding in the hardest part of all... going home is a breeze, 'cause, well, I'm going home! Woohooo!

Mine's 46 rpound trip-- I try to ride about 4 days a week-- works in the summer, not so often in the winter-- but I seem to average about 3 a week year round.

So, what can you say?
Most people who bike to work, live close to work.
The closer you live to where you work, the more likely you will want to ride a bike to work.

D'oh, I spaced on "round trip", too. So I checked 1-6, when it should be 6-12. Sorry.

Yeah, I also missed that it was round trip. I voted for 1-6, but it should have been 6-12 for my 7-8 mile (haven't measured it exactly yet) commute to campus (just started this Monday!). It's pretty nice - a little bit on the country-ish road I live on, a little bit of a bike path, another college campus on a hill with a Sweet Jump on the way home (), a little bit of riding in town. It's a nice mix, I'm digging it so far.

heh, seems I am not the only one that missed the round trip part.

My commute is 5 miles each way. All of it on the road through suburbia.

I missed the RT too, change from 6-12 to 12-18 miles RT. Looks like I might at or above the average, mine's an easy commute though, bike lanes/bike path almost the whole way; smooth and very light traffic residential for the rest.

A bit over 8 miles round trip so I checked 6-12 but most days I rode home at lunch for 2 round trips.
