Ole Dick
Dick Cheney came to post and gave a "You're so awesome, that's why we pay you in peanuts" speech. Secret Service were tight, and all the streets were closed. Soldiers had to march in from several miles back. I was helping provide medical coverage, and rode my bike in (like everyday). Those secret service guys let me ride all the way up to the parade field, and even watched my bike for me while I worked. Sounds like they must be sort of pro bike commuter!
PS, We had about 100 heat casualties. None of the VIPs though, as they had huge air-conditioned tents.

Hope you weren't standing in formation with fixed bayonets on your weapons.

Well, He "had other priorities in the 60s than military service." I'm sure working for Donald Rumsfeld as his special assistant at the Office of Economic Opportunity created real hardships in his life.

Why would he need secret service protection on a U.S. military base surrounded by soldiers? And how effective could they be when they're outnumbered by trained soldiers w/ heavy artillery?

I think I'm going to pass on the Secret Service guys for bike security even if I could get one cheap. How does one strap them to the bike frame when riding? Kryptonite has a brackett for their security devices, but I don't think Secet Service guys would fit. Now if they could run along side me during my commute with one hand on the fender that would be nice. Then the cagers would have to deal with Agent Smith, allowing me to concentrate on the road. I've also heard rumors that agents can be easily biced, or bicked, or bic'd. In Europe it would be biloed, but I don't commute there so the spelling doesn't bother me. Anyways, thems just rumors.
