blackburn rack
I really like the looks and design and cost of the blackburn expedition 2 rack, but where can I get it here in the US? I can't even find it on their website.
the tubus racks are nice but too expesnive and large- I don't want to look berserker on my way to class.
Other racks don't look as strong or as large. i want the blackburn expedition, 2 daddy! and if I don't get it I don't want anything!

Check out the Axiom Journey and Topeak racks. They're both excellent for price and construction. I have a blackburn on right now that I found in the back of the shop. It works well, but I need something with the longer rear stay to keep my panniers from swinging.

I can't find the tubus rack dimensions and they looked like for serious touring. No touring for me in the near future, just school. And I just want to lash my backpack to it, so I don't want to look to crazy. I would like a stronger rackl so I can buy panniers for groceries or actually go touring. ahh someday.

I use a trunk bag for this bike. The rack is small compared to others but is strong as hell. I also like the adjustability of the attachment points. You can find Tubus racks on e-bay for cheap (well relatively). You can also get a rear light that attaches to this rack.

I am confused.
People already mentioned Axiom, Topeak & Tubus. I'll throw in Old Man Mountain, MEC, Bruce Gordon and Surly as racks to look at. MEC racks are cheap and people do big tours with them. The rest are not cheap, but you can find used ones for sale if you look around.
Nashbar also makes racks I believe.
FWIW - I don't find the Tubus racks look very large or aggressive. In fact I think they are nicely understated for expedition quality racks.

Hi,
the link will take you to the Blackburn webiste which has no mention of
an Ex-2...
https://www.blackburndesign.com/racks.html
Frankly, a rack is a rack is a rack... I used a crappy one for years without problems. Many of the darn things are tougher than the bike they are on. Which means in an accident the rack can crunch your nice frame.
For a good cheap rack, try a Planet Bike. My fave rack is Tubus. I had a Blackburn Expedition rack and gave it away. I put it on my sisters bike.
It was too heavy, my sister is part mountain goat and didn't care.
My Tubus rack weighs 12 ounces, half what the Blackburn Expedition rack weighs.

Sorry I don't mean to be self contradictory (there must be a better way to say that). I just get the idea that people who go on tours carry 50 pounds+ of weight and I'm not quite ready for that yet. I would like to get the 25 pounds off my back, and I don't think groceries will be much more than that. So I thought the Blackburn would be a healthy/ cheaper comprimise. Recently, I have read a lot of blackburns failing on the forum however, so maybe I will go for a tubus.

Hey, I have a nice blackburn rack with the three support stays that I'll sell cheap. It has a few scratches from use, but it's in perfect condition structurally. I'll let it go cheap.
