I got my beater "let me fixx it"

Hello all I was complaining about my lack of beater for practical commuting purposes. I told a buddy about what I was searching for I get back to my apptment and this frankenbike was left on my doorstep it is a 78 Nishiki road bike with mtb handle bar (flats) and bmx brake levers and the shifters on the down tube (surprisingly still hits all the gears like new) I kinda like the shifters on the down tube it is an interesting I am thinking about "fixxing it" and p-clipping a rack to it and some artext grocery panniers

could work real well. it's all in the dropouts if they can move back and forth (semi-horzontal not vertical dropouts) the conversion is easy as pie.

me personnally i'd ride it till the gears start giving you trouble THEN fix it.

no sense fixing something that isn't broke ya know

but then fixed gear is the new black, it cures cancer, and will make you strong like bull. but above all that it's fun.

when you do convert it, just do us a favor and wear a helmet and use brakes till you know what your doing.

Fix it, ride it uphill as much as you can, and become strong as a bull

Yeah, I wear a helmet it doesn't protect the rest of the body. Yeah I am going to probally ride the gears till this thing finally quits, which might be never given that it has lasted sense '78, thanks for the support. I like the old style shifters a taste of something old

I have that hanger on the back of my bike will it be good for fixed or will have to singlespeed it? after not riding a bike with a rack I thought it was kinda old manish old ladyish to have a rack on your bike. Now that I have it I love it ! I can strap a hole bunch of stuff on it and go!

Fixies are going out of style cuz they're in style now. Leap ahead of the "me-too" crowd and convert the Nishiki into a touring bike.

[e]Those dropouts will do for converting to a fixie/ss.
