Suggestions for route from Pawtucket RI to Cambridge, MA?

A friend of mine works in Pawtucket, RI and lives in Cambridge, MA and lives car-free. Currently he rides his bike to South Station and then takes the commuter rail to South Attleboro and rides to work. He wants to start riding from work to home on Fridays, and as a fellow cycle commuter (my commute is 14 miles one way from Cambridge to Burlington, MA) he's asked me to help him plot a route.

Only thing is I've never ridden further south than Canton. We're planning on doing a recon ride this weekend and plotting out most of it with Rubel Bikemaps, but as good as Rubel's is, it's not quite as good personal knowledge.

I imagine that few folks have ever commuted this entire stretch but does anyone have recommendations for the following legs? Standard commuter priorities apply (reasonably quick, hills only when necessary, pretty terrain is nice but getting home in time for dinner is nicer)

Pawtucket, RI to Attleboro, MA
Attleboro, MA to Walpole, MA
Walpole, MA to Needham, MA

I can navigate Needham to Cambridge fine, but everything else from points south is somewhat new to me.

(and if anyone has commuted this stretch, well, first, my hat off to you, and second, what's the best route? I took a look at Bikely but didn't really see anything that matched what I was looking for besides kkjellquist's medway to attelboro commute route which I'll likely adapt for part of the attelboro to walpole segment)

Nice. That's about a 50 mile ride.

Personally, no idea how to do it, but please post the best route once you've got it together.

will do. probably post it to both bikely and gmap-pedometer (one for easy searching, other for elevation data) once I've got a draft ready. figure that it can also be adapted as a touring route from Boston to Providence, as well. It will probably take a couple of days for me to draw it out as work's been rather busy.
