i saw a craft jacket the other day that looked nice. the only rain gear ive had has been an EMS jacket that wind/rain proof. its not a cycle jacket though so the fit is weird and annoying.

but it keeps me dry.

I have a set of Performance rain gear that has lasted 20 years and has only needed patching in the last year. I have heard some nice things about www.showerspass.com but have not tried them personally.
Pity SEARCH is still disbled, that would answer your question easily.

Storable? So your looking for an emergency type shell that normally sits at the bottom of a pannier or in a jersey pocket and only gets used a few times a year? Or are you looking for a durable shell that you wear for months during a wet winter?

Propore material for the emergency type, look for O2 rainwear, or froggtogs. They use propore, are light, and pack up small.
For a durable winter long rainjacket, get a showerspass elite jacket made from event.
For a thin jacket that holds off occasional rainshowers of less than an hour, look for a softshell of schoeler dryskin like mec's ferrata hoodie, etc.

My wife uses their Waterproof Breathable Rain Jacket, and she loves it. Rain doesn't stop her from commuting anymore.

Also, their customer service is top notch, they have very good prices, and all their products are made in the States.

Pit zips, back vent? If not then Showers Pass gear has it beat. I have used their stuff for two seasons on commute and training rides. It is as good as it is said to be, right down to the hood and shoe covers.

Yes, I am aware that my post is of no help and a waste of disk storage.

I just get wet. I do wear a rain resistant cycling wind jacket.
Anyhow, it rains so little here in colorado that I have not bothered to pick up any rain gear.
In cold temps I toss a bit of wool on and dry out my clothes at work.
Call me strange but I love getting dirty and wet. It brings out the little kid in me.
The coldest temps I endured last year while raining was a rain snow mix somewhere around freezing.

I just got one of their standard rain jackets and pants last week and cant wait for the rain to start. Being larger than the standard clydesdale at 6'4" and 340 lbs I was very happy to have their items fit as advertised sizes state and the quality is very good. I didn't get the breathable stuff since I sweat like a 340 lb commuter and no goretex built breaths enough to make much of a difference.

The only time I need rain gear is in the winter, when wet + cold=bad. Then I wear a tshirt and wool sweater under an REI novara reflective wind-resistant jacket with good ventilation, along with rain pants and booties.

Otherwise, when the temp's above 50, (as with today's heavy rain) I just end up getting way too hot. At that point, I'm getting almost as wet with sweat as I would with no jacket. So, like datajunkie, I just let it rain on me. I do wear a merino wool shirt, though. They rock and are very storable, with the added bonus of not being stinky (unlike the jacket). The only semi-unpleasant part is putting your moist clothes back on, but once you get into the ride, you're warm and wet again, and it's fine.

I don't really get the phobia about the rain, esp. in the summertime. I like it. Like my mom used to say, you're not made of sugar.
