AAaaack, Wildfire Smoke!!!

For the past two days, the air over and in Idaho has been a smoky brown with a "Red Alert, High" air quality warning. They have been telling people to stay indoors and limit activity. I have been commuting anyway but am starting to suffer with my athsma acting up. Talk about some georgeous sunrises though! They are absolutley blood red and stay that way even when the sun is high in the sky. Anyone else out there commuting through wildfire smoke this season?

I've done it when its smoky in the valley here, but nothing like the smoke you're talking about. I don't have athsma but my chest usually burns a bit. Not fun. I don't have a choice really though, and I'd rather ride the 5.5 miles to work than make my wife drive me and waste fuel.

No wildfire smoke, but there's a half-mile patch of my commute where every house burns wood during the winter. If the wind is gentle and from the south, it all drifts over to the road, cools off, sinks into the valley that the road makes, and parks there. I don't mind wood smoke much, but that last house is burning... I don't know what, but it smells like garbage. Seriously. All f'in winter long. Kak.
