Need to carry a Unicycle ! < how ? >
I want to bring my unicycle with me to the beach ... I don't want to take my trike for this because I have a bridge to cross and it gets real fast going downhill... + I would prefer to get there a bit faster !
Any ideas for how to do this? I have a 20" wheel on the uni ... ??? |
Ride it there?

Maybe this would work?

I little over 30 years ago I had a Unicyle that I rode everywhere, from one end of town to the other. I would go 10-15miles at a time. Faster than walking for sure. Once your centered, the globe rolls under you. Granted I was 14-15 years old at the time and time is all I had to get somewhere.

I see this one guy ride a unicyle across the bay bridge. It's 2.9 miles across. He does it both ways.

I know!!! Take off the front wheel to your bike, replace it with the 20", lash the rest of the uni to a rear rack.
Benefits: 1. More fun bike ride (no front brakes) 2. You get a great upper body workout (trying to keep your butt on the saddle) 3. It's harder to steal your bike (without a front wheel) 4. Chicks dig scars |
Actually - why not take a 4" diameter x 2 or 3' PVC pipe, make a notch for the unicycle's seat post and your seatpost and bungee it to the back?

Backpack/ messenger bag. Strap it to the outside if needed.

If you have a rack, maybe try some big heavy duty zip ties to strap the wheel to the rack. Remove the seat, then zip tie the uni frame so it's nice and solid, not swinging around.
Or you could separate the frame from the wheel, that'll help compact it a bit. Or hook it up with one of those bike adaptors, so a stuffed monkey can ride along behind you. Like this, but backwards: http://www.unicycling.com/garage/pix/WILDMONK.JPG |
I just bought a 24" wheel Schwinn unicycle this week at a garage sale. What a workout. Totally soaked in sweat in about 15 minutes. Best distance is 15" without a fence to grab.

Make the mime carry it?
