It's weird how your reply is before my original message.

Anyway, he did not look too old. 30s at the oldest I think. And I didn't know him.

I ran into a very courteous truck driver (a contractor in an unmarked truck to boot)a while back who very nicely made room for me and a fellow cyclist to pass on a bridge with nose to tail stopped traffic. I don't normally like to filter past cars but road widens into a 5 foot wide bike lane on the other side and I couldn't see much point in waiting for the traffic jam to clear to get my lane. Had a brief friendly chat and then I was on my way.

Not all pickup truck drivers are hostile.

On my commute yesterday, after waiting for a red light, I managed to hook up with a nice draft behind a big pickup truck. I saw a passenger in the truck look back at me so I waved. The truck gradually accelerated, and thanks to the nice draft, I was able to hang on until I needed to turn. The highest speed I saw was 34mph. Before I turned off, I saw the driver hold up 3 fingers. Then 4. Cool

I gave him the one finger salute. Thumb.

Don't run red lights, wear a helmet, use hand signals, get some cycle lights(front and rear) and, FFS, don't run red lights!
