I sometimes ride on the sidewalk.

Its always empty, because nobody walks in L.A.

That is one of the beauties of a bike: It can often be ridden by a competent, mature rider in a manner that is relatively compatible with pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Exactly my reasoning. I mean half of my commute has not sidewalk, but it has a wide shoulder both ways. I can understand where the sidewalk is used heavily by pedestrians, but in the burbs why take a chance. Like you learn in health classes in high school &/ college. Taking risks = unhealthy. Putting yourself in dangerous situations nomatter the reason is unhealthy.

I just bought a gorgeous $85 jersey (some guys at work had a custom run made with our company logo on it); but I don't own a single pair of bike shorts. I've been riding around in cotton undies and nylon baggy cargo shorts. Nor have I actually managed to ride the 5 miles to work yet, because I ph3ar the hills between me and them.

Incentive, right?

almost forgot: last night, while passing a house containing a co-ed party (read as drunk and drugged), someone from inside saw my blinkie lights and yelled "Hey bicycler...STOP! GET BACK HERE!"
...so i did. (talk about pushing your luck...)
Managed to find myself in (and talk my way out of) an almost- 12-to-1 fight...stupid, stupid, stupid....

I will IGNORE the stupid screamers, I will IGNORE the stupid screamers, I will IGNORE the stupid screamers.
Whatever the form they appear in, on foot, by car, on moped...they are EVIL, and I will resist....

...and last week I embarrased the heck out of a chick as she blew a red and nearly creamed me. Car was last seen with boyfriend yelling her out as the car sped away.

My sin...I only pretended to nearly get hit when in fact...I saw her not looking while blowing the red light. Had I trusted her I would have been creamed.
