Thanks Sailguy,
I know that area well. Used to rent a place next to Hakone Gardens on Big Basin.
So you ride through Monte Vista, Steven Creek Res., Pierce Rd., Saratoga on a daily commute. WOW. My commute is similar to Andys. Monterey Hwy, 7th st. Naglee Park and north SJ residential is OK, but you have some prime south bay scenery. Last month the Acacias were blooming, now the mustards and yellow wood sorrel fill the fields and poppies along the road. Take it all in. In a few months it will be dry grass and golden fields and still very beautiful.
Steve

I notice that nearly every picture that has autos included there is a SUV or 4X4 PU in it! You could have made those pix in good ol Tennessee!

No cheap gas.. cheapest is $2.30/gallon right now. Just lots and lots of money in the area. The average home price through some of the areas I commute between is $1-2 million. So the price of gas isn't much of an issue with many.

It is with me. I have almost went completely carless since the gas prices went up. I have driven at most once a week in the last 3 weeks.

Just move nearby, and you got it! Commuting with others is rather fun. There is a guy that lives near by I run into occasionally on the road, and finish the ride with.

Sailguy -

Did you purposely leave out the close-ups of the cement and gravel trucks on Stevens Canyon Rd?

SteveE

Nice pictures, by the way.

Ironically, there were none to be seen when I took that picture. Once I got back on the bike, I was attacked by them again.

Sailguy: You are richly blessed with your surroundings. Not to outdo you, but I plan to submit photos of the Kentucky hog farms I pass on my regular ride. ;-)

NO ONE will mistake that for a commute through Manhattan!

I have a rather scenic commute since I live on a small island. It is going over the bridge to the "mainland" to where I work where things forgot a long time ago to be beautiful (and safe!)

That makes me more than hesitant to do the 7 mile commute.

What a cathartic ride! Enjoy!

VERY nice commute route, Sailguy. I do Newark to San Jose, and I'd have 19 pics of stop lights. I'm trying to work up to every day. With gas costing me about $35 a week for a 4 cyclinder Jeep, the commute and fitness level it gives us is very attractive. A beautiful commute like yours would just add to the incentive.
Are you riding the Fremont Freewheelers Primavera on April 13th?
