WARNING: Batteries Low
I must admit that I'm not feeling 100% today.
I'm not ill or coming down with anything, it's more about the fact that both yesterday and today I haven't been able to cycle to work. My wife and daugheter are away on a school camp so I've had to drop our son off and pick him after school up for the last couple of days.
I never realise just how good cycling makes me feel until I can't do it. I simply haven't felt as energized over the last two mornings and so I'm looking forward to getting back onto two wheels tomorrow morning.
The combination of some quality exexercise along with having those few moments to myself doing something I enjoy. I'd hate to have my life so ruled by routine that I'd have to follow the same pattern day after day but there are some things that are very beneficial and make life so much more enjoyable.
There’s the possibility of rain in the morning but that won’t stop me from recharging the batteries with a few kilometres on my treadly.
How do you feel if for some reason you're not able to ride to and from work?

The morning half of my workday just isn't bearable if I can't cycle in, and an evening at home is full of yawns if I have to catch the bus home. I had to drive because of rain earlier this week and as soon as I got home, ordered my rain gear, realizing that I'd rather be an energetic drowned rat than a dry zombie.

I understand your feeling! Every 6th day I have a 24-hour day at work +the next day, which means I usually have too much stuff to ride (sleeping bag, extra T-shirt & socks, toiletries, 5 meals, etc.), so my wife drives me in (avoids having to leave rediculously early to find parking!). I had "duty" on Wednesday, so I didn't ride in, and I didn't ride home today. To make matters worse I'll only be at work for about an hour tomorrow, with a time crunch to get on a ferry boat 50 miles away for my weekend, so riding in tomorrow is again an impractical venture. Fortunately I'm bringing my bike with me, and I'll be picking up 2 bikes this weekend to work on over the next month or so. Yay! Saturday morning I have a vigorous 20 mile early-morning ride scheduled as to try and make up some miles, and get back some of the endorphins lost from not riding!
Riding creates endorphins = happy = energy

i feel weird. i drive to work most days but i'd prefer to ride; right now i can't do it every day for a lot of reasons. when i ride to work i get (and need) to eat a lot more, so now that i ride my bike so much less than i used to, i am probably taking in way too many calories even though i feel entitled to them. haha. i take a different route cycling than driving, so today i almost took a wrong turn to go on my bike route. if i see a cyclist i get jealous and regret not riding. there is also some relief because i still don't have very good gear so i'm always too hot or cold or wet, and it takes forever getting dressed at work. but mostly i am bummed!
but i wanted to say that since i've started riding to work (not just riding, but riding to work specifically), i've caught myself doing some strange things. one night i was sitting on the couch, and i realized i had to go get something, so i hopped up and i SKIPPED into the other room before i could stop myself. the other day i woke up and turned off the alarm, and started humming to myself before i even woke up. it's crazy. i'm such a brooding sourpuss so much of the time that it was really shocking. haha.

The guys in the TOUR say the rest day buggers up their body.
I personally need time off. Too much though doesn't feel good either. I'm good for 5/6 days a week.
If I only ride 2/3, things don't feel right.
In winter, if I can't commute, I ride the trainer in front of the TV.
