custom brackets

Do you make your own brackets for things on the bike? Lights? Fenders? Rack? Camera?
Do you cut fenders or modify any parts to fit your bike?

Got photos?

No photos 'cause I'm out of town on business, but yeah, I made brackets to fit my fenders.
When I switched tires and fenders on my town bike (2" to 1.5") the gap between the fender and the tire was more than I wanted. I went to the hardware store and bought a strip of brass. Drilled the holes I needed and bent it to shape. I used brass so I would have no rust issues, and to insure I would not have dissimilar metal issues I sprayed the brass brackets with polyurethane.

My plastic dynamo lamp bracket snapped where I have gouged out a section to clear the headset race. No commercial bracket would fit so I hacked an old , crash-damaged Stronglight chainset apart. I made the frame fitting from a section of crank and the lamp arm from a section of chainring.

My LBS has a small machine shop where needed brackets, cable guides, and other assorted parts are fabricated. They are also quite good at drilling out stuck parts. Ever seen a stuck skewer drilled out? It takes skill. I love that place.
