New or used?
I want to build a single speed for commuting (30 minutes each way, all weather). Should I build around a new frame or should I try to find a used frame? Thanks.

Either should work. Only concern is if the dropouts are horizontal or vertical. Makes it harder to get a snug chain with vertical dropouts, but there are magic gear combinations, or get a halhlink. They are great. I have have a s/s wheel using a freehub and a s/s specific hub as well. Both are fine. Used frames work great as there is little to no cost involved in converting. Good ideas and help from https://sheldonbrown.com/singlespeed.html. I converted my last one for $5. All I needed to buy was a new 14 tooth cog, and got some spacers free from the lbs. Try the s/s fixed forum as well.
