Product Review: Trek SU200
To start, very versitle bike. This is what should be under the ass of every city commuter. I'll start with what most people concider the most important part of a bicycle, the frame. It's a straight up mountainbike frame with a rigid fork. Definatly overbuilt for what most people will use it for, but we commuters arent weight weenies, and if you are GET REAL. Another thing to mention is the clearance of the tires. I almost think you could fit a 700c wheel with skinny tires in there, but it was obviosly intended for the fenders. Component wise the spec is pretty safe, all shimano (except SRAM cassette) and no iffy Tektro stuff. Your obviously not getting Deore anything for a sub $500 bike. Next the most obvious benifit of this bike is the disc brakes, they shure can stop you in a hurry. I don't care if you think they're too much and reagular rim breaks are fine, but mabey you havent had a car cut you off in the rain. The only complaints I have are minor, one being the wheels are a little heavy. Also the handelbars are overly wide for me, I cut them down 2 inches on each side without any compromise in the agility of the bike. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
