philadelpia - kelly drive commuters

anyone noticed the new chicken that hangs out between the boathouses and the first bridge? this is the second morning i saw it.

now i don't know if it is a rooster or a hen but i propose we find a chicken of the opposite sex and start a free eggs for bike commuters program...

at least this one doesn't hang in the middle of the path like those DUMB canadian geese...

They aren't DUMB, they are just being SILLY.

Lighten up on our feathered friends, the next thing will be to complain about is that the Silly Geese are flying or waddling in the wrong direction.

it's when people start to feed them and they get too lazy to move when people approach (let alone migrate)...

all i want is for them to have a little fear and waddle those fat-asses out the way when people apporach.

we need a fox!

Yikes! Some motorists think/say the same about bicyclists "in the way" when their car approaches.

Are you sure they're chickens? I got to wonder if they aren't pheasants or turkeys. Chickens? I've never seen a wild chicken.

I find the geese amusing as well. The main driveway for my workplace is often completely blocked by the flock of geese that hangs out on the premises (around 20 or so). I enjoy watching my harried coworkers be stopped by the migration from one side of the driveway to the other (the geese are obviously not in a hurry). The company installed these megaphone types things that squawk and make other bird-like noises in an attempt to scare them away (they crap everywhere) but the geese just avoid going near the megaphones. I'd hate to see them gone.

ok, never insult canti's or geese on bikeforums... got it

thdave - i think it is definitely a chicken and was probably just released by someone there and is now happily pecking away... not really the area for rare wild birds (we're talking minutes from center city).

Now I need to go take a look a see what the hell is going on at Kelly drive. I've never seen a chicken there before just stupid geese. And yes these geese are stupid because the water from the schukill river does strange things to them. LOL

Yeah but all the geese know how to spell the name of the river (I know, cheap shot and doesn't mean a thing ) AND that the real name for roads flanking it are the East and West River Drives, not those phony baloney PC tags.

Enjoy your ride and don't slip on the slippery stuff.
