Double ride today
Rode to work as usual this morning, pre-dawn, arriving about 7:30. As I'm rolling up I realize what's up; all the generators outside the building are running. We only have enough generator capacity for critical stuff (server rooms, etc). We've had ice storms the last few days and a lot of power is out, though we're good at home and work had power yesterday even though the major storm was the night before, so I didn't think to check.
I went inside for 3 minutes, found a manager in the dark, she said "we're closed, go home. Sorry, you rode all that way for nothing."
I said "Heck no, I go to work so I can ride!" She said "Well then, go back outside and ride all you want." Got back on and went home. So I got a 95 minute solid ride in this morning with a 5 minute indoors break. Same as I usually ride in a day, but all at once in the ice.
My toes were starting to get pretty cold by the end though; I just had on my usual pair of rag-wool socks under my bike shoes, and the thermometer was reading 5*F by the time I got home.

Brrrrrrrrr! I don't like to be out much more than an hour at a time if that in that sort of cold. Well done! What did you have on your feet?

I'm kind of thinking about getting some Power Grips and using insulated boots in the winter. My toes are the only thing that gets cold enough to bother/worry me on long rides.
