Burned out my 6V MR11 bulb... HELP HELP HELP!
Hello,
Ive got an ancient Performance-brand (Vistalight?) pair of 6V halogens. The other day I burned out the lower-wattage spot. I can't remember what they are anymore... maybe 12W spot + 20W flood? Or 10W?
Anyhow, I need a new bulb. Where to get one? Also, I hear that you can overvolt with a 4.8V bulb for brighter light or longer battery life. Always one to prefer performance over reliability, I'd be interested in that option, but finding a 4.8V MR11 might be even harder than finding a 6V. (I fould 6V MR11's at 1000bulbs.com for about $3 each, but shipping was $10...

I don't know if they make 4.8v mr11 halogens, but you can pick up 6v mr11 in a variety of wattages at home depot, hardware stores, light fixture stores, batteryspace.com, etc.
Generally, I think, people overvoltage by increasing the voltage from the battery source (by adding more batteries--i.e.: 6 instead of 5). batteryspace has pretty good deals on prewired battery packs and chargers.
overvoltaging will make for a brighter light, but it will drain your batteries more quickly
