Just got home from the E.R. - I broke my face!

Cager changed lanes and forced me off the road and into the curb. I lost control and flew off my bike, landing on my face.

Carnage:
* Two facial fractures, one causing massive bleeding in my sinuses
* big ol' scrape and goose egg on my chin
* 2 chipped teeth
* 2 broken-off teeth (stumps)
* goose egg right above my right eye (helmet slipped upwards a bit)

No concussion, and the bike is just fine. I was RIGHT AT the bus stop when this happened. I didn't get the plate numbers and only one person stopped and asked if I needed an ambulance. I rode back home and had the wife take me to the E.R. since she was home.

I'm probably gonna be off the bike for a while.

Dang, that sucks.
I hope they catch that cager. I doubt they will, but I hope they do.

Heal quickly.

I've had that same accident. Luckily I didn't break my face. I hit shoulder first (seperated shoulder) and then over onto my head (thank you helmet!) Surprisingly, I was back on the bike in a week. The shoulder continues to cause some problems so I'm trying find some fitting solutions for the bike.

I hope you heal up quick so you can get back on your bike. I do everything I can to avoid city traffic.

Holy cow! Not the best body part to hit the road with. I feel your pain... I chipped a tooth myself as a kid in a very stupid fashion (sommersaults...) and that was not pleasant but it's nothing compared with your accident. Damned friggen cager! (It's amazing how oblivious they can be. Just a few days back a cager almost changed lanes into me too (forced me to grab a handful of the brakes) and the funniest thing was the big "Safety 1st!" sticker in their window. Ironic or what?)

Get better soon. ... Scars look good on men.

ax0n- My heart goes out to you. I am very very sorry to hear of your accident. Almost two years ago I was in an accident at a water park and I landed on my face at speed. One of my front teeth broke into a bazillion pieces and the one to the right of it came out whole. It broke my upper jaw below my nose (the maxilla) and I lost both teeth. I had emergency dental surgery the next day (It happened on a sunday) and that took weeks to heal. Then I started the process of getting dental implants. It was a long road to get those but I have them now and they are great.

I would press charges if you can find the person who did it.

Ouch! I tossed an M&M into the air and tried to catch it in my mouth. It hit my two front teeth coming down, and that hurt. I can hardly imagine having four chipped and/or broken off teeth... and still go on to ride. Jeeze, you're a tough SOB man. Heal up quick cause I may need you to back me up in a bar fight one day.

Man, sorry to hear about your crash. That really pisses me off that the cager didn't stop - all too common it seems if he thinks he can get away with it. In traffic you'd think another cager who witnessed the crash would chase him down and get a plate number at least. I know I would give chase if I was in "cager mode," but only if I knew someone was tending to you. Obviously, your well-being is first and foremost.

Get well quick my friend.

Bummer dude, hope you get healed up and riding again soon.
On the bright side, the bike is OK and anything has got to be an improvement for you in the looks department.

Ouch! Sorry to hear about that, ax0n, you will just have to be on Foo all day long, that's all. With all the pain meds you're likely to be one, you should have the Foosters rolling in the aisles [so to speak].

Get better soon!

sorry to hear about your crash. Just remember, as far as that driver goes, time wounds all heels and, as for you, time heals all wounds.

I had a Cager do that to me as well. Luckily there was no curb and I was in a very wide access drive in for a service station. It pissed me off so bad I pulled my foot out of my clip and kicked the door panel as hard as I could. I made a huge indentation in an obvious new SUV door. No tag on the rear and new vehicle paper in the back window. She took off like a stuck pig running the red light in the process thinking she had hit me!
