Portlands "Bike Guys"

I found this video while on the BikePortland.org web site and thought it was pretty fun.

That is so cool
(We have no bike lanes here, but if they ever started them, I'd like to see this exact same thing)

At first I thought it was done by some renegade bike punks. How cool that the city workers are doing it! On the other hand, quit standing around making soccer balls and get to work you slackers.

Thanks for checking it out.

You can get the DVD here:

Or spread around the youtube link here:

When I started working on this documentary I had no idea where they came from and thought it was renegade painters with some good science backgrounds (so they knew what would LAST). I was really surprised at what I found. It's been a big hit.

I'll try to post a picture of my favorite one (it's along my commute), the bike guy has a full golf bag, golf flag and is swinging a club at a golf ball (it's near a country club).

yeah, portland.

oh, and great work on your short doc!

That was fun!

I just did a small demonstration (had a table - and was there to talk about the joys of commuting) and this would have been nice to have had on a laptop running.

Well, the soccer ball was a bit extreme, but most of them are just cuts of scrap pieces that one of the fellows probably cuts out in 30 seconds while others in his crew were preping the pavement.

Oh well, I guess it makes the city interesting and it might keep the moral of the road crew up.
