Clipless Shoe (SPD) Knee Pain: How to Adjust?

Hi. I have a set of spd shoes and I have developed some knee pain in my left knee. Nothing terrible, but I want to make sure it does not become and issue. My question is which way generally do you adjust your cleats to reduce kenee pain? . I have the cleats centered in the sole of the shoe and centered under the ball of my foot. My right knee has no pain with the same set up. Anything else I should look at? I think the sadddle is high enough and there is some float in the pedals.

Thanks

I'm noticing a trend here.

Everybody complaining about knee pain is running SPD pedals (myself included). Coincidence?

Aligning Clipless Bike Pedals

The Rotational Adjustment Device or RAD™ system allows for the precise and efficient alignment of the cleat in your clipless bike pedal system. A Fit Kit™ Dealer can use the RADs to find your naturally rotated gait and properly align your cleat to eliminate stress on your knee, hip or ankle.

I have no experience or connnecdtion with this but it looks like what you're looking for.

One other major thing is if you're going to use clipless pedals to "lift" on the upstroke, do it like you're scraping mud off your shoe, don't just pull your leg up hard, you can really trash your knee.

Try adjusting the cleat slightly outward (toward the little toe). That will make your foot tip slightly inward when you clip in.
It worked for my knee pain over 3 years ago, without recurrence.
