Top Tube covers
I'm scaring the hell out of my top tube with my lock and where I lean it at work. Anyone use one of those top tube covers (pipe insulation or something fancy) that the Fixed crowd use?

WIG makes them too. Other option is to use a bmx top tube pad.

My housemate uses one on her Univega. It's color-coordinated to match her bike and panniers. (Yup, we're girls. )

Try looking for a local messenger bag manufacturer. I had one custom made in Toronto by Push The Envelope. Can't remember how much I paid.

Check out velo orange for some nice leather top tube protectors. I got a leather chainstay protector from them and it is very nice and well made,IMHO.

Hey, thanks for the props.
I've currently got brown bartape so I'm running a brown plaid one instead of that broquade.
I really want to try out the rope one on my track bike though.

I went for the redneck method on my new Randonee, section of MTB inner tube wrapped around the top tube like bar tape and zip tied in place.

I use leftover bartape (free) and pipe insulation ($3.00 for a 10ft. foot length at Home Depot). Pretty ghetto but it works.

Are you talking about a ding pad to protect from your lock or a top tube protector to protect from the handlebars?
see the <<Top tube protector>> thread in the fixed forum.
