Helping New Commuters

A (good) local bike shop in Minneapolis is running a commuter advocay program on their website called "Bike Buddy". It is intended to match more experienced commuters with people that are interested in commuting but might need a little help or moral support to get going. I think this is a great idea and have volunteered to take on a new commuter if time and location works out for both of us. I think this is a good idea and so I wanted to put a plug in and see if other bike shops, co-ops, business associations, chambers, etc., etc. might pick this up and help those that want to start commuting to get into it with a little help rather than the old trial-and-error approach.

Here is a link to the site for more information on the Bike Buddy program. Anyone else have experience with something like this??

i was looking around today for a bike shop in St. Paul, actually Roseville. i am pretty sure i saw one of them that did this.

i'm currently searching for a good Local Bike Shop. What is the shop you linked to like? Would it be worth visiting since i live in St. Paul? i visited two shops here in St. Paul but wasn't extremely satisfied.

flipjarg - the shop is Hiawatha Cyclery in South MPLS. I like it and have had good experiences there. Check for a PM inbound from me.
