it's your ride, but that is one cluttered handlebar! =/

An evolutionary product: what works persists, what flunks goes off. However cluttered, it makes a comfortable surrounding. Incidentally, at my workplace I won in the prestigious category of the most cluttered office.

Humidor? Is that a joke? As in for cigars?

Sorry, my mistake. It is a hygrometer. There is a cigar connection, though, as I've got it from a supplier of cigar accessories.

An onboard humidor would be pimp, especially if you're one of those commuters who smoke. :D

My commute bike's dashboard is very simple compared to lots of the examples above. Dash of my DaHon Curve SL:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=234298Bell is built into the left brake lever. Shifter is built into right grip. Added Garmin 800, NiteRider Minewt.

Now that's just funny. Didn't notice it the first time but you're right.

Nicely accessorized, Mardmakarm!

I finally got around to wrapping the bars on my fixed-gear. Not perfect, but I'm getting better at it.

Almost BattleFred ready!!! I still can do more, but this is what I have for the moment.......

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7210/6...fcc64edb47.jpg

Let see what do we have here.... My homemade handlebar bag, a handlebar extender (extended w/painted wood), 2 MiNewt X2's (not one dual system), a MiNewt 200, 2 PB 5 LED Beamers, a NR TriNewt (w/remote), the PDW Bar'ista, the NR MiNewt 600 Cordless, my laser designator, and one of my NR Digital Evolutions (w/thermometer, compass, and wind chill chart). My bikes' fork lockout, an Incredibell, Cateye Mity 8 Bike Computer, The Garmin 205 GPS unit, the MiNewt 200's battery and the stereo speakers for the iPod. Bike currently weighs in (w/o batteries) at 49.7lbs. My helmet has other MiNewt X2, and a PB Blinky 3H.

Still missing 4 more NR Digital Evolutions, an old NR Headtrip, 2 NR Classic Plus(es), a PDW Spaceship, and a Zefal headlight... Oh, btw, I can add the Gumball machine if necessary... and I use PVC pipe as my cutting guide for pruning.

oh, and I see I have a couple of inches left on the left hand side...... Hmmmm......

I'm still looking to get my hands on an AIM-9P Sidewinder Missile (1/1 scale replica) W/launch rail for my bike (Or a set of twin Browning 50 calibers (say painted broomsticks for the tailgunner position)) for CarWars! (The Disruptors are currently cloaked... can't remember exactly where I put the damn things ;) )

Goodness. I see at least nine headlights there. I hope you get a lot of respect on the road. Can you talk a bit about that?

a1penguin 03-11-12 12:13 AM

I'm not sure why you need so many lights. Two on the bar and one on the helmet seems like it could be more light than you need. Unless you are putting little AAA Fauxtons on your bars. Do you have a pic in the dark with all the lights on? And half the lights? Most flashaholics don't go through such pretense to purchase more lights :-)

I typically get a lot of respect from motorists at night, they can't claim that I wasn't visible. It's funny watching the number of them crossing over the center line when passing me (and I'm in a bike lane).

Then again, tonight I got an angry honk from the old fart who felt that he shouldn't have had to lock up his brakes while he was approaching a red light as I crossed in front of him at a crosswalk with the ped signal, and an oncoming pedestrian (no bike lane at the intersection) (there was plenty of space for me, not so much for the ped).

After the number of incidents that I have had over the years (4 resulting in trips to the hospital over the last 20 years), I'm tired of getting hit in daylight. I can now say that I have a daylight visible system, and one that will still work at night.

As lights get brighter and longer lasting (with less weight) I like to upgrade. Also, when rechargeable batteries die, often it's more cost effective to replace the systems than buy a replacement battery. I've also had some incredible deals over the years.

Roswell? I've visited there from time to time, but I haven't been there for a while... The Hover conversion needed the power of the Mr Fusion to work (sorry guys dynamos don't cut it) ;)

That's a pretty awesome light bar, it reminds me of some floodlight bars I've seen on pickups out in the country.

With all those lights, have you considered getting a large-ish lithium battery and rigging up a single current source? I'm thinking it must be hard to keep track of which ones need charging.

Medic Zero 03-11-12 10:11 AM

Why the laser pointer though?

I'd rather not void any warranties that I may still have. Recharging is no issue, each rechargeable light has it's own charger, and a PowerSquid makes it easy. The other lights don't see much use, so I use disposables for them.

It was added as a gag. I had the laser, a spare mount, and it fit without modification.

Here is my setup. I have good clearance for my Interupter brake lever. Also the drop bars are clear of any lights or mounts so I don't have to compromise my different hand positions.

Two quick question k: 1) what are you using for the back of the bike and can we see it? 2) I see the tape on the spokes but what are the solid colors made of?

At the risk of being banned for having too simple a layout, here's my "new" Bianchi Premio's "dashboard." ;)
