Continental 4000 GP
So - steepandcheap had them on sale - only about $4 more than I pay for Vredstein (sp?) SE. They were black/gray and matched the 90's Miyata carbon wrapped frame.
I pulled the trigger for about $62 a pair shipped. I know people seem to like Continental, but has anyone used the 4000?

I just bought a pair a few weeks ago and I have been really happy with them. I have ridden with them on a 76 mile ride and a 109 mile ride, both of which ended up going through some bumpy construction zones. And I have been commuting to work on the bike they are on. On my commute I often end up riding over glass and random road debris and they still look new (well they are a bit dusty).

I find them a little more prone to puncture from glass than Michelin Pro 2 Race but they are better when it comes to bumps and heavier riders. The glass seems to get stuck in the rubber then eventually works its way through so I am always picking out little shards. The Mich don't do this. Though the Mich have a very squishy feel when new even at max recommended PSI but this goes away after a few weeks once they stretch out. The Conti are good from new.

I have about 1000 km on mine and have experienced no flats. There are no cuts and I beleive that they should last at least another 1000 - 1500 km

I have over 750 miles and the front looks great, the back shows some wear. I will probably rotate soon. They do tend to hold shards so every few weeks I'll pick stuff out. They grip pretty darn well and wear pretty well to. No flats. Very happy.

I keep them at 120psi and check the pressure prior to every ride.
