I have a SUB 20 and am very happy with it. Bit rigid, but it's tough. I'm about 6ft 1in and have pretty long legs and arms. I have the large frame. I think an XL might fit better, but not sure. I think I would be in the middle of the frames. Not sure about the SUB 10, but I think it looks good. I would love to have disc brakes.
i purchased a sub 20 (26" wheels) in sept. 2006. i commuted on it about 3 miles a day until april. i have good and bad things to say about it but overall it's an excellent bike for the quick commute.
the LBS chased a clicking noise for several months before replacing a defective bottom bracket (@ 500 mi). also, tires are biased toward efficiency at the expense of puncture resistance.
benda18: how wide of tires will it take? I've been tossing around the idea of 'upgrading' my '04 Pt Reyes to a Sub 10(the two are close to each other in specs),but don't want to lose the versatility.

the good: FUN TO RIDE. very maneuverable bike and you can feel all of your effort transmitted to the pavement.
the bike has weathered well despite frequently riding in rain/snow and on wet and salty winter roads.
frame is coated with abrasive paint that makes carrying easy. cable is routed along top tube such that it doesn't pinch your palm when carrying bike.
the v-brakes work fine even in heavy rain or snow thanks to machined rims. save your $ and skip the disc brakes.
stock tires are 26x1.25. 26 x 1.95 knobby mtb tires did not fit. main issue was clearing v-brakes.
sub 10 has disc brakes, so you might be able to fit larger tires.
here are some measurements that might help you:
2.5": inside width across frame at rear tire perimeter.
2.25": same as above but for fork.
I just finished a year on my Sub10. No problems at all. The bike is fast and quiet. I am a fan of disc brakes (from mountain biking) and I am happy with these. I have a rack and fenders mounted. The disc brakes require a little extra effort to mount the front fender.
does the sub 20 only comes with abrasive paint?
I've seen one at the bike shop across and it felt pretty rough and not very pleasant?
does the sub 10 have the same paint job?
I have one as well, 3 years now...
It's the most beautiful bike I've seen so far, no other compares to it... the frame is just lovely...
I mounted a suspension fork on it, eventhough it kills a little the look of the bike...
When I bought it, I had the choice between the 10 and the 20, in my opinion, the 20 is just another street bike.

Just got a Scott SUB 10 today! i'm very happy so far, the little bit i've ridden it. the frame is beefy, but lightweight. it's a 2005 model, and dosen't have disc brakes, but has the mounts for it.
I have run a Sub 20 (26") for several years, summer and winter. It has about 2500 miles on it. I really cannot complain. It has been a good, reasonable fast, sturdy, and relatively trouble free. Thing I have done include:
-Added fenders and rack for all weather riding
-Changed to a stem with more rise (hand numbness)
-Changed cogset to 12-23 for closer ratio shifting
-Replaced stock tires with IRC metros at about 100 miles (rear tire exploded in pothole)
-Replaced BB at about 1300 miles (clicking, but still worked, annoying)
-I need to replace the chain (worn), but again, it still works OK (2500 miles on a neglected chain is fine with me)
My biggest compaint is that it is a harsh/stiff ride. I got an old '85 Schwinn Sierra this spring (more relaxed, steel). It is nowhere near as quick (or light), but I have not been on the Scott since. I think if I was using it more as an errand run-about bike than a day-in-day-out commuter, I would hvae liked it better.

i'm now commuting 20 (up to 50) mi. daily on my sub 20. no issues since bottom bracket at 500mi. (now at 5,000).
i'm picking up a cross check this week just cause i want to try something different on my new longer commute. plus the sub 20 gets no respect
