Specialized Langster
About a month ago i got hit by a car and my old bike is totaled. So i have been looking at a Specialized Langster. I have been reading about this bike and i cant tell if it comes as a fixie or not. so my question is, does it?
Also, if this isn't in the right section, sorry.

I have one. It comes as a fixie or singlespeed. Has a flip-flop hub on it so you can switch it easily. It's a rad bike, totally get one. I've been commuting on it for about 5 months now and not one problem. Not even a flat tire!

some new kind of kick
the langster is a decent bike--
there is much text spilt discussing this
bike in the ss/fg forum. If you are looking
for a fixed-free or single speed bike
there are lots of completes out there--other
than the langster, including steel frames if
you want something with a smooth ride and
less chance of failure.

I can't stay for the stock langster, but I have the langster comp and it starts as a fixed. It's only drilled for a front brake so if you're doing SS, you'll be missing a brake. The standard is brakes front and back.

One of the two bikes I use on my daily commute is a Langster. I ride it fixed with a front brake. Be aware that there are compromises to use a bike like the Langster to commute. My other commuter bike is a Bianchi San Jose which is more commuter friendly.

The Langsters that I looked at were single speeds with a flip flop hub, but this particular lbs didn't have fixed cogs on them and wouldn't put one on for a test ride.

I'll admit i've never actually seen a Langster...but...Lemond has a steel steed, ss flip flop called a Fillmore. Be the first on your block to own one.

The Fillmore is sweet. For about the same coin you can get a Fisher Triton. Equally cool.

I commute on a langster 5 days a week. It has a both a freewheel and a fixed gear. I ride it with the freewheel and it's been a great bike. Stock tire are not the greatest, but everything else has done very well with over 1300 miles in about 6 months.
