Singing while riding
Anyone else into this? I stopped at this little mom and pop spanish restaurant for some excellent pollo and they were playing a Neil Diamond DVD on their tv. I never really knew any Neil Diamond and kinda chuckled at the tape. To my surprise he starts singing "Sweet Caroline", a song I had only heard in bars when the whole audience was drunk karaokeing to it (type in sweet caroline drunk on youtube if you want to see examples of what I mean). Anyway I was rocking this awesome feel good tune the whole way home.

I occasionally get stuck in a rut with something like "Its a small world after all". I whistle "White Coral Bells . . ." almost by reflex when coming up behind people. Only if they show no awareness do I call out.

Somewhere on the pacific coast a stomach turns thinking of its ghost the moonlit shadow of our dog, the cold night air lifts up the fog till morning brings it down again relentless as the tidal shore, bloody lip you begged for more......
There's always a song in my head. Sometimes it's outside my head.

Go on a multi day, group tour. You can get a quartet going. We sang "Home on the Range," all the way across the ranges in Nevada. Lucky for us no one lives out there in the outback. I am sure we'd be stopped for air pollution.

All the time... Except that I can't hit more than one note in twenty, so it sounds more like tuneless mumbling to anyone else. But hey, it entertains me

Muttering to yourself constantly might keep some people from bothering you, so win/win!

I used to be a rock star (ahem), but I can't sing at all, so I'm usually too embarrassed to belt out the song in my head.
One exception: there's one spot on my commute where the traffic thins a little bit. The cars get all excited and race ahead of me. After they all accelerate to the inevitable traffic jam in front of a hospital, I roll past, singing at the top of my lungs a bit from the "long medley" on the Beatles' "Abbey Road":
But oh, that magic feeling — cast a glance into the stalled traffic — nowhere to go!
Happens every day. And I never tire of it.

All the time. Last month, on the MS Bike Tour, I got held up by a train for a few minutes. I started singing "King of the Road." Stuck with me for about 50 miles. Had to just sing it in my head though, got too out of breath trying to sing out loud.
Trailer for sale or rent, rooms to let 50 cents, no phone, no pool no pets, Ain't got no cigarettes, but, two hours of pushin broom, buys a 8X12 four bed rooom, I'm a man of means by no means, King of the Road.

What about whistling while turning? I often times have the urge to make the turn signal sound by whistling it on turns.

Yes, I am an iPod zombie and occasionally get into a song and find myself singing. Also, when I used to ride while completely exhausted I found singing as a way to keep myself awake.

mmmm.... classical music.
I tend to listen to EBM \ future pop \ and other forms of electronic music.
Makes one want to dance... a tad difficult on a bike. Awesome stuff for sprinting and intervals.

I was tearing through the fog yesterday morning, singing "Ghost Rider" (from The Crow soundtrack.)

I often sing on solo rides. Always when there's practically no risk of anyone else hearing.
During my nightly city rides, I've found myself singing this:
And so on. Great song, and the first line really fits nicely with what I'm doing.
Out on the country roads, I sing just about anything. Mostly metal, but really anything.
I like to sing, but I'm not a good singer, and I have a crappy voice for singing. Hoarse, broken and with a very narrow range. I'd make a great punk rocker...

I only remember singing one time while riding. I got stuck on a MUP after dark and didn't have a light. I kept getting spooked by animals popping up right in front of me, so I started singing loudly to try to startle them out of my path. Thankfully I sing so bad that even the animals couldn't stand to hear it, so it worked like a charm.

I don't have a portable music player, so I listen/sing along to the jukebox in my mind Sometimes loud, sometimes humming to myself, sometimes just blurts of the lyrics I do know
It can and has got me some confused looks
I've also taken to doing things like, shouting out the William Tell Overture, or the tune that Metallica use as their intro to "Don't Tread On Me". I also love the "incidental music" that the cable guy sings when he's gone nutso up the satellite in "The Cable Guy" - yeah, I love acting nuts on my bike Big smiles all around.

I've been known to sing while on the bike. I think the best was when I blew past some unsuspecting fellow cyclist while crooning "WOOO ALABAMA!" to the tune of "Sweet Home Alabama". Poor guy, in retrospect I probably scared the tar out of him.
At a mountain bike race I was at the end of a brutal, brutal switch-back rooted climb in the dirt, and "Crazy B**ch" by Godsmack came on the iPod. Little did I know that I was about to an area that crossed a road, with several spectators as I hollered a line from the song punishing the rest of the climb. Bloodied from a fall, covered with dirt, and hollering Godsmack, there I was.
They were in tears with laughter.

many of my co-workers say that they don't need a radio when they work with me, not the greatest singer, but know a bunch of tunes, mostly 70's and 80's rock and old country (from before country became more like rock).
