I went down yesterday on Michigan Ave

Cab came over on me from the right as I tried passing him. I stuck my hand out he kept coming, I went down. Slid about ten feet on my back jumped up and checked the traffic behind me (I didn't want to get run over) They were stopped. The cabby had no idea what happened, I got back on my bike and just rode away I didn't know what to do at all.

Just a little scrap on my elbow, I guess im pretty lucky. Looking back I probally shouldn't have put my hand out but I just reacted. First time I've gone down at least I got it out of the way now

I lost a barend and have some rash on my seat and bar wrap.

Would a loud horn have helped?

Do you think a very loud horn such as the AirZound might have gottern through to the cab driver? If so, this might be an important safety item to add to your communting bike.

That's one of my routes home normally, and I hate cabs. I run into them mostly outside the hotels on the south part of michigan ave between Adams and Roosevelt, they never look where they're going. Good to hear you didn't suffer anything too serious.

Giro,

I don't know. I slapped his back window pretty good when I stuck my hand out he stopped and asked me "what's the problem". lol while I'm picking myself up off the ground.

I hate cabs their so impatient. Can't tell you how many times one of those Jamaican Cab Drivers has yelled out the window at me and I had no clue as to what he was saying.

Tell me about it. I was heading south on Clark in Lincoln Park a month or so ago. Stupid
cabbie in the left lane sees a fare at the curb and dives across the right lane cutting me
off in the process. I barely avoided becoming a trunk decoration so as I passed him I
slapped his window hard. Needless to say once he got going again he laid on his horn
from about a half a block away as he passed me. That earned him the finger from me,
but that was all I could do at that point.
