Who's seen a car get pulled over due to screwing with you?

Was just thinking about one of my happiest moments cycling, when a jerk who had tried to scare me into crashing got pulled over about 100 yards after passing me.

Story: Late winter, coming up to a red light, some guy in a pick up decided to lower his plow onto the pavement in what could have only been an attempt to scare the sh** out of me. After the red light, the cop 2 cars back from him pulls him over.

Any one else have any happy ending stories like that?

They weren't messing with me but a lady passsed me on a blind curve and she went all the way accross the yellow line. A cop was right behind me and pulled her over. I live in the country with few road cyclists on my routes and the drivers treat me all most to well when it comes to passing. I hate it when they give me to much passing space. Especially on the blind hill or curve. Anyone behind me that waits for a safe opening gets a friendly wave when they're passing me. I've all ready witnessed a head on colision and don't want to see another.

A teen shot me with a paintball gun.

I caught him at a light about 1/2 mile up, and a cop was just pulling up behind him. I told the cop what happened. The cop pulled them over, confiscated the paintball gun, and took them away in handcuffs.

That's awesome!

I had to seriously restrain myself on Friday. I was heading home and riding along, crossing in front of an old fart in a Porsche Carrera convertible and he honked at me (no good reason). I hit the brakes right in front of him, stared him down and called him a dickhead before riding off.

I'm kind of a big guy at 215 lbs., ex college wrestler and I think he realized he was messing with the wrong guy real quick. But, I was tempted to just go ape-chit on his car and beat the hell out of it.

No cops.

A guy pulled up and swerved around me right as I rolled up and did a foot down stop at a stop sign. He basically blew through the stop sign and was trying to right hook me.

Did it right in front of an officer.

In a school zone.

Not a good idea.

The officer stepped out from the curb and motioned for the driver to pull over and wait. He checked with me to ask if I was all right and to see if the there had been any contact made, before sending me on my way and taking it up with the driver.

On a group ride some drunks kept going by and screaming at us. A mile down the road we went by them as a state trooper was handcuffing the driver, and his car was being winched up onto a flatbed tow truck.
The driver looked right at me. I stopped, gave him a huge grin and a big wave. So did the rider behind me. I could see his face turning red!

As I was coming up Strang Line Road for the last leg of my commute, I had a car come within inches of me.
...
Out of nowhere, I saw an Olathe Police cruiser next to me (going the speed limit in the inside lane.)
...
As he passed me, I saw him veer into the outside lane. I was sure he was going after the reckless Mustang driver. A few seconds later, the emergency lights kick into action.

Several stories with happy endings. Two that involve the police.

When I first moved to Denver I was riding my bike fairly early one morning... riding down Colfax since there was hardly any traffic at the time. A brand new SUV full of teenagers tried to run me off the road twice, with the kids screaming out the window at me.

The second time they came up to me as I was approaching a stop light that was changing to red, and I kicked the side of the truck before accelerating through the light right as it turned red. I crossed over and got into the left turn lane, to make a turn, when I felt something hit me in the lower back. Look up and the SUV is speeding away with the guy in the back seat hanging out the window holding one of those four foot long ice scrapers. Lucky for me I was wearing jeans and he hit right on my leather belt, so I barely got a mark on me.

There was a police car coming the other way, so I jumped the median and flagged him down, told him what happened and he took off after the truck. He didn't find the truck then, but several motorists had seen it happen and called it in.

The police ended up arresting the kid and towing the truck.

Not sure how long it took them to get the truck back, but I'm sure daddy was PISSED.

Story 2:

Snowy, icy conditions, and I'm a couple hundred feet from a stoplight. At this intersection there's a small island in the center of the road right before the left turn lane starts.

As I approach, someone is getting ready to pull out of a driveway on my right... (they were backed in) waited till I went by, then gunned the engine and roared out, turning right, sliding into the oncoming lane, and passing to the LEFT of the island as I'm passing on the right of it... The car tries to get back into the lane ahead of me, but looses control and spins through the light into the cross street. Sitting in the lane, facing oncoming traffic, he throws it in reverse and backs into a parking lot right as the oncoming cop car hits his lights. Purty. I don't know why the guy was glaring at ME as I was sitting there waiting for the light to change to green.

I was approaching an intersection very close to a school. There is no stop sign in the street I was on but there is on the cross street coming up. From the right, a female driver did a rolling stop and proceeded to make a right turn. About a block away, she was stopped by a female police officer and cited. That was the highlight for me that day.

I got hit when I was 18 by a small car going through a stop sign. The driver fled the sceene but an off duty Policeman chased him home (was five minutes away) and told him to get back to the sceene or else! Well the on duty cops showed up and didn't charge the driver because dumb ass me was riding againsed traffic. Ever since then I always ride with traffic.

Happened to me once, a lady in a sweet convertable sports car, while looking right at me, prematurely pulled right into the bike lane to make a right turn, right into me! I say to her,"what the hell are you doing!" and she just heads right into me! I turn a sharp right and kick her car with my left leg, really, really hard....for leverage and we both get the light, she flags down a Police car that was right in back of us, tells the officer,"did you see what he just did! He kicked my Jag!" to which the officer replies," Sir, are you OK?" I reply," She almost ran me down!" He says," I know, I saw it all happen, if your OK you can go on and Ill take car of this." Im like, WOW! he gets out of the car, grabs her keys out of the car, and ask her for her paper work! I thank the officer, and he waves like, no problem! It was the best day ever! It hasnt happened again since, but it was great!

Nope, and I don't think I'm ever likely to in this city. The police force here is nothing more than token. Only last week someone was killed because they failed/refused to respond to a call about a domestic dispute. Somehow I can't see them bothering about someone yelling at a cyclist either.

I was riding my bicycle along with my wife and we reached the end of a little bridge that has a stop sign on the end where cars typically do not stop, blowing through the sign.

As we waited for a gap, we went across, then comes the urban racer in his saab and blows through the sign, almost takes us both out, and hammers on his horn !

As we make it across, he slows down next to us and yells profanities at us... just as he pulls away a cop lights him up !!

Turns out that cops hide on the far side in an out-of-the-way parking area that has a straight shot view of this intersection !

Yay !

Didn't expect to see this many stories. Cool.

It's something about the attitude of spoiled rich tickheads. The world revolves around ME ME ME. I almost killed some stupid cyclist, big deal... but HE KICKED MY CAR! OMG! OFFICER! OFFICER! ARREST THIS MAN!

One beotch like that in a fancy car hit my boyfriend on a quiet residential street. Just suddenly cut across the street to go into a driveway on the other side of the road... no signalling, no indication of what was about to happen... He had no choice but to ram into the side of her car and fly over the hood. That woman was SO amazed when a police officer arrived and wrote her a ticket. You could see it on her face she couldn't believe it was happening. She kept describing the accident (truthfully) because she felt the officer misunderstood something. She really believed she was in the right. What an amazing self-centred jerk...

I had a cop get a reprimand after she forced me to get on the sidewalk. It is illegal to ride on the sidewalk in a business district in Little Rock.

I will look forward to the day a traffic cop takes action against any cars/trucks/cabs that cut off bikers, uses the bike lane to pass, parks in the bike lane, pulls out of the bike lane into traffic without looking first, etc, etc, etc.

It is great to know that some police are paying attention, even if it's just to meet their ticket quota. I swear if the NYPD started ticketing every driver that commited a bike lane infraction, they'd solve all of the city's budget woes (and have tons of funding for protected bike lanes...)

Never a cop, nor on a bike, but a karmic revenge story...

I was in my car and heading east in traffic as I was getting on the San Mateo bridge several years ago when some idiot in a brand new pickup cut me off and continued weaving through traffic as I watched him slowly disappear over the highrise section of the bridge, then forgot about him.

About a half hour later I laughed as I saw the same new pickup in the old salt ponds up to the base of the windshield about 30 yards from shore at the far side of the bay... Apparently he misjudged one of his "passes" and ended up in the drink.

Motorists always act like angels when they know a cop is around, so I'm still waiting for my first "cop spanks naughty motorist" story. It's nice to hear that it does happen though!

Yes it is. I've never had any cops nearby whenever this sort of stuff happened with me.

Some one, a few months ago had a story about a car that tried to hit them with an apple, and they ended up hitting a police car that was set up in a speed trap or something like that.

That may have been the best story.

Anyways, thanks for all the replies guys.

I was walking to the bike shop to pick up my bike and I crossed a four way stop intersection. I got halfway through the first lane when a truck gunned through forcing me to jump back. I looked at the police car that had just stopped at the intersection as well, then she pulled out and threw on the lights.
Awesome.

I had some cars that passed me in the diamond lane get ticketed. Of course it wasn't for passing me but at least it was a ticket.
