David Byrne = bike commuter

In today's NYT:
A Bicyclist’s World

Viking has announced the acquisition of “Bicycle Diaries,” by David Byrne, above. Since the late 1980s Mr. Byrne has been using a bike to get around New York City and has taken a folding bike along on his overseas trips. The book will offer his impressions and thoughts as “he pedaled around many of the world’s principal cities,” said Paul Slovak, Viking’s publisher.

He's hosting talks about biking in NY

He's hosting at the New Yorker Festival:

David Byrne Presents: How New Yorkers Ride Bikes

(Free valet bicycle parking will apparently be provided. That alone makes me wish I was out there in early Oct. - I'd like to see that! :-)

https://festival.newyorker.com/sat_event_list.cfm#sns

His blog is also worth checking out:

https://journal.davidbyrne.com/

(he sometimes talks about bikes, and much of the other stuff is also interesting :-)

About half an hour ago, there was an interview with David Byrne, author of "Bicycle Diaries", on the local NPR radio station, WNYC, 820, here in New York.

I missed the start, but I went to the site and found the archives:

https://blogs.wnyc.org/lehrer/2009/09...-the-schedule/

It would be the show for October 22nd, although the interview is not in the archive right now, it can be expected within a few hours. ( I suppose they are preparing the audio file for uploading right now).

I just read the promo for "Bicycle Diaries" in Outside Magazine the other day. You're right, marqueemoon, David Byrne is cool. We need more celebrities like him. Like Robin Williams, who has also been promoting cycling in the last few years. What other celebrities come to mind?
