started communting to work today

done it a few times in the past but i think i'll start getting serious and regular about it , it's only 5.5 miles there and back,, thought i'd mention a few things i've noticed...1. cycling when it is cold, 5 degrees here this morning, is magic on a clear sunny day like today, flying down a hill at 30 mph in these temperatures is just warm enough that your sacks don't freeze off and it really is one of the most refreshing things you can do!!! 2. having a noisy rear hub is a definate benefit when you commute like i do, on and off pavement and roads all the way, as pedestrians know where you are and there are no surprises when you approach them from behind.. and 3. after you get over the near heart attack when you actually get to work, you feel great and really awake all day, 4. it's piss easy to beat the buses into town, even at my poor level of fitness, even left later than i normally do and got there earlier...any how just thought i'd blabber a wee bit...

Welcome to the HHCMF (Happy Healthy Commuting MuthaF***as club! Benefits of the club include increased stares from the opposite sex, stares of envy from cagers stuck in traffic and the sense that you are now better than everyone else because you are.

Welcome to the club! You will find yourself getting grumpy when you have to drive now. Oh, and your driving skills will probably deteriorate quickly. My wife rarely lets me drive anymore; I kept trying to filter on the right in our mini-van
