Many kudos and much respect to the OP/builder. It looks like a military bike in the best sense of the word. Understated color, no-nonsense componentry and world class innovation w/t lighting system. As I build my own ultimate commuter over the next year or so I will refer to this thread often. Great satisfaction to be had cruising around on a set of wheels you built yourself. Check out a site called www.powerflare.com for your rear lighting. Please, if possible post more detail pics of the hub/drivetrain. Also, a listing of all the parts and how you went about getting them. I know I'm in for one of those sliding chainguards. When you get your bikesite set up, please post it, too. Geeks worldwide are waiting! This is an amazing build. None of us will ever be bored in looking at new posts of your bike. Thanks again...it's a sweet ride. It's like the best of the Euros, but with some Yankee ingenuity. Sensible, but w/a bit 'o the Rogue.

That's a sweet ride. I am considering a similar project using an IRO Rob Roy frame. I would like to use disk brakes up front, but the stock Rob Roy fork doesn't have disk mounts. What kind of fork are you using? Is it from a Surly 1X1? And are your tires 700c or 26"?

Thanks!

NIce bike though. I realy like the color of the frame. Plus Voodoo is pretty much the best bike company name ever.
A 60 person side by side bike! Mwahahaha!

Actually, I have imported the 60 for sale on my commuter/utilitarian bike store https://www.bikefront.com (and are for sale right now).
My goal is to carry products that would be useful to someone who uses their bike as transportation but cannot be found at a local bike shop

My apologies Addendum to the parts list:

Wow, thank you very much. The bike site is currently up and active here: https://www.bikefront.com
Thanks for the powerflare site, they do make some cool rear lights. I do have a rear light on the bike right now it just wasn't fully pictures. Its a red xenon strobe sold by allelectronics.com

Yep, its a Surly 1x1. The frame was built for 26" wheels with MTB tires but I laced the hubs to 700C rims and this actually puts the frame into the proper geometry once you acount for the thick tires that would have been on the 26ers. The switch from 26 to 700 was easy because of the discs, no brake reach issues

You should be able to click "View cart" and then be presented with an option to checkout using Google Checkout

Do you see this screen? (minus the annotated red text and arrow)

Thanks, been a long time in the making and excited about it getting going

I specifically made sure to only charge actual shipping costs and provide options for USPS Priority (cheaper) and Fedex Ground. If you checkout, you will be shown the cost of shipping. I am working on displaying the shipping cost on the cart page so you can know before checkout.

I've bookmarked your site for future reference. How about selling aftermarket skirt guards?

Definitely, almost read my mind as thats something I'm looking into. I have found that Electra will be selling their Amsterdam skirtguard/coatguard as a part for their 08 model year. Have not found other manufacturers yet but would most likely be looking at another European import.

Nice bike. The front looks a little odd to me. PerhapsI'm just used to smaller light setups and that box kinda off sets the look of the bike somewhat. Otherwise it looks nice and I'd imagine very comfortable for long rides.

How many speeds is this bike? 21 speed?

Shimano has let a few of them out in Canada, but they are not yet widely available. They are in the Shimano spring order catalogue, and I have been assured they will be available to us for the spring order. Retail price with shifter is $365.

Ouch! Its cheaper to have one imported from Germany!

At that price range I would also seriously consider a Nuvinci hub

The chaincase is really appealing to me, but I want to use a 48. I hope to see one of these in action at some point, I'm sure you'll sell well.

So, why is the 48 tooth chainguard $3 less than the 38? It's the same but larger, right? (The pix link on the 48 din't work for me.) Assuming it's the same, I'll order right away.

The chainguard available for a 48 tooth max chainring is the same style as the 38 tooth max but the difference is that the 38 has a rear adjustable mount and also has hardware-less clips to secure the mounting bracket. The 48 tooth has no rear mounting and requires hardware (screws) to attach it to the mount

Ah, your bike is an absolute inspiration. I think it would be quite possible to head off on a round the world cycling trip with that bicycle of yours

Thank you
It is a dream of my mind to travel the world by bike. I'm trying to work through some knee problems but I hope to someday make that possible

dwoloz, any shot at getting a Hebie model 355 as a special order? Seems like the two prong guard would protect my trousers better?

Have to sell out my current stock before that though, shipping and customs cost is insane on this stuff

Can you post detailed pictures of the lighting construction? I have no experience with that sort of thing, and will only understand it if you demonstrate it. If you don't have time, I understand.
