My morning commute is in the dark so I need multi lens glasses. The cheap Coyote glasses I had been using broke. Does anybody have experience with the single lens style that adjusts to light conditions? That would certainly be easier than changing lenses every day.

I have the Oakley Half Jacket XLJ Transitions. They block between 62% and 91%. Other lenses go from 50% to 90%. They are fine now in the changing light but I think I'll wear clear when it gets a little darker.

I was looking for a pair myself, but I ended up going with a pair of Native multilens glasses in the end. The ones that change shade (phototropic?) all seemed very expensive and none of them got as dark or as light as I wanted.. I didn't look online, just in person at a few different stores, and in the end, I'm happy with my decision. Yah, it's not ideal to have to switch lenses, but it really doesn't take that long, and I'd rather have a true clear lens when I'm in the dark and a very dark lens when it's super bright out.

That's about what I thought. It's most important for me to have clear ones when it's dark. Best accomplished with multi-lens. Just thought I'd check though. Thanks for the input.

btw, the prices for those Tifosi Fototec glasses at Nashbar isn't bad. That's one reason I thought I'd ask about it.

Transition lenses get plenty dark, 90+ percent. They just do not get light enough for riding when it is almost dark.

I use Tifosi glasses with the high speed red lenses, but they do get a bit dark for commuting at night/mornign in winter.

They also have a fototech lens that is clear and lets thru between 27% to 85% light called "light night". They'd be good for winter commutes.

I use the tifosi fototec "light night". I bought them because they weren't too expensive, and they fit me well.

I'm not sure about the tint change though... I can't really tell that they do much. I've never done anything to specifically test the change though. I specifically wanted something on the light side though. I wear them all the time, from mid-day to pitch black.

I don't regret buying them, and if something happened to my current set I would replace them with the same, unless I felt motivated to try something much more expensive. Every pair of high-end glasses I've ever had has been stolen though.

Every expensive pair of glasses I've ever bought I've manged to somehow destroy, by sitting on them droppin g them in freefall from 10,000 ft, having a planes prop wash blast them down a runway, lost, stolen, chewd on by a pet, etc.

Any inexpensive pair just seems to last till i get bored of them and want something new. Tifosi actually have very good lenses. Decentered lenses you usually dont find on sub $200 glasses i believe.

Next time nashbar puts on a free shipping special I'll try a set of light nights.
