Nothing. The seams add discomfort. Bike shorts are meant to be worn by themselves.

He didn't anything about a cup, just a jock strap.

Nothing is right. Anything else is uncomfortable and can/will cause chaffing.

Yeah, you're right I've just never worn a JS without a cup. Honestly if I'm not planing on riding 25 or more miles I don't even bother with cycling shorts anymore.

I tried tighty whiteys under the chamois for a while.

Two words:

OUCH! OUCH!

Just throw them on and be comfy. Wearing a warmer layer OVER them is an option, but the seamless pad and panel construction is meant specifically to be worn against the skin.

Nothing should be "worn" under bike shorts. It should all be in good working order....

With the flow of the thread, it sounds like you are cycling naked.

Distance? I can do it one day without chafing, but two days in a row of about 30 miles per day and I got some serious saddle sore action going. I learned quickly that you just don't do it.

Cameo-esque cod pieces can be worn over the spandex at your own discretion.

Nothing works well but for those of you who find that nothing causes problems or discomfort (mental or physical), you can purchase cycling briefs with or without pads.

During the summer months, I find that I either need to stock my office with clean bike shorts for the ride home or use cycling briefs to avoid heat rash. I prefer these when I can find them.

I've done up to 64 miles on recreational rides which usually takes around 4 hours. Maybe it's at mile 65 where everything suddenly changes...

Weird. Why anyone would want to put more clothes on than what is required is beyond me. However, I must be the reason these laws are still around. Without them I would be wandering around in my birthday suit.
