2008 Jamis Aurora Elite ?
Has anyone looked at the specs on this bike. The components are good but gearing may need to be changed.
Is a Carbon fork OK on a commuter or Touring bike ? What are your thoughts.

Basically last year's steel Nova cyclocross with a triple 10-speed, a new name, and marketed for light touring. I would trust the fork if you're either good at or careful going up and down curbs, etc. I don't know that I would put bags on it but it wouldn't have braze-ons if it weren't pretty strong.
I commute on a steel cyclocross bike and beat the living tar out of it. I've used it for light touring, about 35 lbs. total, as well. I recently bought a Jamis Aurora for foul weather and more heavily loaded touring. Most of the components were swapped out for slightly better but slightly used stuff I already had but I must say I really like the frame.

It's not the first carbon touring fork, and carbon forks are used for cyclocross all the time. My guess is it's waaaaay more overbuilt than your stereotypical road carbon fork.
I like my Aurora a lot for what it is. The Aurora Elite is made with slightly better steel, too.

I've commuted and toured on a carbon fork with no problems. They're pretty sturdy.

I'm seriously considering looking at this bike.

Finally found a retailer's price list for '08 Jamis models. Aurora Elite lists at $1,350. It's a shop in Austin, TX, so your mileage may vary...
