Any feedback on the Trek Back Rack?

I am thinking about adding the Trek Back Rack to my Trek 7100. I want to attach a commuting bag or pannier to the rack to carry a change of clothes and my laptop.

Any advice would be appreciated.

If it's the same one that comes standard on the Trek 520 (from pic it looks the same), then it's a very solid well built rack.

My only complaint...I would prefer something more on the back end (like a panel or something) that was better designed to hold reflectors/lights.

Very happy with mine. I like the adjustability.

I've got the Trek Interchange Large model and it's pretty nice. This one does have the bracket on the back for lights. The only thing I don't like is the back strut. Wish it went straight down and then turned back into the mount. My grocery panniers have a hard time attaching to them.

most racks skimp on a good light/reflector mount on the back despite the fact that there mounting interferes with the stock location. A strap of metal held together by a screw is pretty lame if you ask me.

Make sure your panniers fit on the rack.
I got a trek and my Arkels do not fit properly. I had to get another rack.

Thanks for all the feedback so far. It sounds like this may be a good choice. At least I don't have to worry about any compatibility issues yet. I haven't invested in any panniers or a trunk bag yet. My top priority right now is avoid carrying everything in my backpack. I have had enough of the sweaty back thing for a while. I am hoping to start by attaching a small LL Bean bag I already have to the rack for starters, and then upgrade in the future. XMAS is coming and that opens up a lot of possibilities.

Keep the advice coming and I will be sure to let everyone know how things work out.
