Blinkie with a protected switch?

Dont know if this belongs here or in the Electrical Forum, but anyways.... I am wondering if there is a blinkie with a more covered or protected switch on it to keep it from accidently getting turmed on. I have my current blinkie on the belt clip since I often switch between 4 different bikes for my commute to school/work and the college budget doesnt currently allow me to spend $100 just on blinkies right now. So usually when it is not in use, it gets tossed in my backpack or panniers.

Well, today I left work right as it was starting to get dark and decided that I would put one the blinkie "just in case" and found out it had gotten turned on on the way to work in my pannier and it was dead. It was allready half dead from doing this a few times before and today I had NO light out of it. FWIW, current blinkie is a Cateye TL-LD500 and I am wanting a PB SuperFlash, I just dont want to get it and have the same problem with it. Has anyone ever had any luck with just putting a piece of duct tape over the switch to make it a little harder to get turned on accidently? Any other suggestions?

The big fave is the Planetbike Superflash. Very bright, relatively cheap (about $20) and the power switch is not too easily depressed (kind of a pain sometimes).

MY PB Super Flash has never gotten turned on accidentally and I keep it in my briefcase along with everything else tossed on top of it.

MyBikeGotStolen (by the way, I has a crayon, too )

I know what you're talking about. Sometimes the button gets depressed much too easily in storage. Maybe it needs medication...or a good bike ride out in the open.

Rather than buying new flashers, just find a small box to put it in.

Cut a small ring of PVC pipe or something and glue it around the switch.
I just never take my lights off the bike. They never get accidentally turned on there.

Velcro works pretty well for this. Cut a square with both sides stuck together that will cover the switch. Peal them apart and using a paper hole puncher punch a hole dead center in the loop material. Peal off the glue strip and stick it over the switch on the blinkie. On the loop material side you can leave the glue strip in place but I prefer to remove the strip and use a multi-purpose glue remover like OOPS! to remove the glue from the material. Now you can stick the loop side to the hook side over the switch preventing it's accidental turn on or off and it's easy to turn it on and off after pulling the loop from the hook.

PB Super Flashes are great. But they are too focused to use effectively on clothes.

Planet Bike sells extra bike clamps though! Just buy three extra clamps with your light and it's a snap to move it about from bike to bike and to remove it when parked.
