once again riding

i used to commute by bike 90% of the time a few years back but when my old walmart bike finally gave out i kinda got lazy and reverted back to my car since i wasent in the position to buy a new bike

but today i went and bought a 08 trek 7000 hybrid thats sitting in my tattoo room right now . i dont really know if you could call my ride to my tattoo shop a commute cause its a 15 minute walk from where i live so i assume less than a 5 minute ride but i am going to try to take it other places too. still need to buy lights and a reflective vest for going home at night anyhow im hoping this will help me get back into shape a little

Do like me and just make up a bunch of non-essential errands to run on the bike. I work at home, so I hardly ever have to go out, but if you get creative, you'll find that you have a bunch of friends who want to meet for lunch, groceries to pick up, packages to mail out, paychecks to deposit, etc. It's a great way to GTFO and enjoy the day

Congrats on the new bike, and yea what scholar said, there is allways something you "forgot" to get at the grocery store My favorite excuse to ride is the library.

thanks everyone for responding yeah I will probably end up doing a lot of errands when it warms up a bit (not that its all that bad right now prolly in the 30s) but im kinda a girl when it comes to the cold so right now I go only when nessisary. tonights ride home was brisk and it was snowing I was warming up right as I got to my door I would have passed by and done a big loop to ride longer had it been warmer but it was cold and my lungs seemed to almost close up , I figure once I get used to the cold it will get better or go away all together. I realised im lacking a few things right now all I have is my bike a helmet and some gloves.I need to drop some cash on avest some lights some fenders and something to carry stuff. and im still not used to getting on and off a properly fitted bike I almost fell over at my first stop sign. I couldn't imagine anyone else trying to ride it cause im 6 foot 6 and the guy at the LBS fitted it just for me . I like my LBS they are really nice and took the time to answer my questions. so im left with less to bother you guys with. I need to find out how to get my girlfriend interested in riding. im gonna stop before this tread becomes my personal biking blog lol.

I think I'm in love with my new bike. If love means having to be in the same room together, pampering, sneaking a peek every now and then, taking her out for a ride just for fun...

lol little big man I do the same thing but I have a facination with looking at the rear gear thingys it looks complex yet stylish and works too. its snowing really hard right now and it don't have snow tires, im not even sure I can get snow tires here im gonna take it tomorrow annd hope I don't die.

I also need something for my ears they got a bit cold.

lol no I keep my bike in my tattoo room so when people come in to get tattoos people will talk about it and people realize im out on the road on the bike and maybe even inspire them to ride or talk about their bikes and riding with me. for some reason people around here tend to respect tattoo artist more than police around here hell I think I even give firemen a run for their money in that dept and they acctually do something important I just make your skin more fun to look at.

tomorrow is a new day and a new ride.
