Any Mississauga, Ontario Riders out there?
Just wondering if anyone commutes my way. I live in Mississauga, Ontario.
I take Dundas street East, to Cawthra or Dixie ...north to Bloor and i'm almost there.
Does anyone commute my way/route?

You're a brave soul for riding there.
I ride into and through Mississauga occasionally (usually when I visit my parents in Milton). You might want to try the regional forum (Eastern Ontario), though it's not that active.

Chephy,
Why do you think I'm brave for taking that route to work? There are moments when I ride on the sidewalk as I fear for my safety at times... but I don't know of any other way to get to Bloor and Dixie. There are no side roads that I know of that go across Dundas.

Ah, the joyous journey through speeder heaven :-)
I sometimes go that way for a ride, but take less traveled routes.

I'm east of the city here and I have been in Missy many times and the roads are kinda crowded up. Having been around the convention center area and Square One area many times I have to say riding there on the road is pretty bad at times. Apparently Mayor Hazel is not in favor of the whole biking thing wiht her comment sometime last year saying and I quote 'roads are for cars'.
I would like to ride in Missy sometime if/when I ever am able to make it up there. I am more and more convinced that a super ultra bright tail light from my experience riding in heavy 'burb traffic (on major arteries) gives drivers a bit more respect on you that your lighting is respectly close to thier vechicle brightness and they give you more room with less quibbles. I have been on the Steeles and Hwy 7 strip in rush and moderate traffic before so I know a little about bad traffic.

Zero_Enigma,
Your right about the Mayors comments. She is 'anti-bike'. The really annoying part is that Mississauga has the space to be bike friendly. I'm hoping to visit the cycling advisory council on their next meeting to see if they even push cycling. I can't wait for Hazel to retire so we can get a Mayor with some vision.

Yep, I was amazed when I discovered a bike lane in Mississauga. Pretty nice bike lane actually. Runs for maybe 1-2 km... On Thomas Rd. (St.?), I believe.
