Is the Cromoly frame any good?

I found a guy who is selling this frame with a fork for 150€ it is an old MTB frame. Is it a fair price?

Do you think I could build a nice commuter with this frame?

I don't know how that price works out in US Dollars, but that's a nice frame and Pugeot has a decent reputation. There will obviously be quite a bit of work and expense involved in building it into a fully functional bicycle.

seems a little pricey to me, but I suppose that depends on the level of Peugeot, it looks decent, maybe do a little searching and try to determine a little more about the bike as originally sold?

Here in the USA, I would say $220 is very steep for a mass-market MTB frame, even in what appears to be excellent condition... but without knowing the details of the model, I can't say for certain.

Just eyeballing it, I would imagine it to go for $50-100 on craigslist here. But I know that the unfavorable exchange rate these days distorts the price you're paying from my perspective!

EDIT: And yes, I would say that a chromoly MTB frame can make an excellent flat-bar commuter. Do check that it has sufficient clearance for fenders! And also, does this include a fork? If not, check the head tube size... if it's an older frame with a 1" head tube, your fork options will be fairly limited.

No and Yes.

too pricey unless yer a huge fan of the brand. Go on Evilbay or Craigslist or whatever and pick up the complete used bike for that amount.

Cheers

Even in it's condition maybe 80 euros. Look at it this way: You can get a brand new Surly frame/fork for less than twice that amount, and nashbar frame/steel fork for less than 300 if you have a coupon or they are having one of their frequent sales.

Heck, at the moment Nashbar has a chromo MTB frame with modern disc brake mounts, 1-1/8" steer tube, and proper rack mounts for $49!!! https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...Frames%2FBikes

Granted, the only size left is 23" (my size! it's tempting, but I'm saving for a camera ), but wow, what a deal. Presumably the price will go back to $100 when they get more in stock.

So yeah, 150EE/$220 for a used chromo MTB frame does not look like much of a deal. Perhaps the OP can use this info to bargain down the seller. I've done that before... pointed out what I could get something for new in order to reach a compromise price.

That's way over priced. Locally I can find a top of the line Peugeot racing frame, fork, and headset of about the same age for 50 euro. Keep looking, you'll find something better.
